Over the past seven years, rivals have tried and failed to oust Mitsubishi’s L200 pick-up from its market leading position. The brand’s best-selling iconic pick-up has been a big hit with both business and leisure customers and has secured its place as the undisputed king of the segment with a massive 48% retail market share (August YTD).

Not one to rest on its laurels however, Mitsubishi is gearing up to introduce a stunning all-new derivative from March next year. Bold, rugged and packed with innovative design features, the all-new L200 is a completely new model from the ground up. It builds on the strengths of its popular predecessor but promises to exceed expectations with a combination of best in class specification, car-like driving dynamics – including a turning radius of only 5.9 metres - and sensational exterior styling that wraps up a high-quality interior.

Despite curves that are guaranteed to be the envy of onlookers and the cause of sleepless nights for square-box competitors, the L200’s legendary toughness not only remains, it has been enhanced. Chassis strength has been increased by over 25%, and all-terrain capability has been further improved on high series models with the addition of traction control and super select four-wheel-drive as standard – great news for all those who drive off-road or tow heavy loads.

Lift the bonnet and you’ll find a new Euro IV compliant 2.5 litre direct injection turbo diesel engine. This time though, standard power is upped to 136bhp and, for the first time, there’s the option of an automatic gearbox. For customers who want a few more horses under the bonnet expect a power upgrade to be available from launch taking the standard power output up to around 160bhp.

Mitsubishi’s new L200 UK line-up has yet to be finalised but expect a range that spans the requirements of all customers with single, club and double cab variants leading up from the no-nonsense 4Work models to the top-selling high-series Warrior and Animal.

More detailed information will be released in November. The first new L200 demonstration models are expected to arrive at Mitsubishi dealerships in February for a 1st March launch.

quindi marzo 2006? fa piacere poi sapere che in europa debutterà proprio in italia al motor show, ma l'200 è ormai da anni il veicolo per antonomasia delle nostre molto.

Molto riuscita come sempre questa L200...ah quanti bull-bar come quello sopra ho disegnato anni fa che poi sono stati bocciati..scusate l'OT.

Cmq stavolta mi sembra che anche il nuovo nissan non stia tanto indietro a questo come design in particolare in strada fa molto "americano"

Come pickup mi piace, ma spero tanto non diventi di moda in Italia: di mezzi inutilmente ingombranti ce ne sono ingiro già a sufficenza.

Per me punta troppo al design tondeggiante, preferivo il modello precedente più rustico ma forse più in spirito con lo scopo dei pick-up.
