Saab Aero-X Concept

Spenchian told dealers in the meeting that Saab will introduce a concept car at the Geneva auto show late this month. The 400-hp, V-6-powered two-seater foretells the styling of the car that will replace the 9-5 sedan later in this decade. Dealers asked about the status of the 9-5 replacement.

"You don't do a concept car on just any brand," Spenchian said. "You do it when there's a future."

Spenchian also told dealers that GM is narrowing the list of possibilities for a vehicle to replace a canceled Saab crossover. That vehicle was killed when GM sold its interest in Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. last year. Fuji was preparing to build the vehicle for Saab at Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. as a derivative of the Subaru B9 Tribeca. Instead, GM will derive a vehicle from an existing GM platform, possibly from Europe.

"We're getting down to a couple of options," Spenchian said. "We'll be talking to dealers in the next few months about the final decision."

Direi cosi' a prima a vista....che al di fuori della mascherina SAAB...potrebbe essere anche un concept Saturn....

Il fatto che GM non sia riuscita a gestire al meglio il marchio SAAB e' risaputo da tempo....ma mi preoccupa il fatto che anche x il futuro le cose non cambieranno di molto.

Mi fa sorridere l'affermazione che starebbero pure pensando di metterla in produzione...Ma come avete un gamma di soli 2 modelli e pensate pure alle nicchie..!!

A parte la scenografica (e fin troppo complicata) apertura a guscio+ali, mi piace l'evoluzione dei nuovi stilemi Saab, che ritornano a promettere bene dopo la terrificante minaccia fatta con il restyling della 9-5.

Io, che vado sempre a caccia della funzionalità fusa nella linea, non riesco davvero a capire perchè hanno pensato ad una apertura del tetto così enorme e complicata e poi hanno fatto un accesso al bagagliaio del tutto ridicolo, con un coperchio piccolo e inaccessibile. )

week before its debut at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, pictures of the gorgeous Saab Aero-X have leaked onto enthusiast websites across the internet. This two-seat siren boasts the sexiest shape ever seen on a Saab. The opening canopy is certainly a head turner, even if it may be a too-obvious attempt to play up the brand’s aircraft heritage. The wheels are killer eleven-spoke beauties, and all lighting, inside and out, is LED. Alas, a sexy new sports car is not in the Saab product plan. But let’s hope the Aero-X signals the design direction for future Saabs.
