sarebbe un peccato, JV con jaguar e land rover sarebbero proprio l'ideale x i segmenti dove il gruppo fa fatica, o per meglio dire dove proprio non riesce a competere. Comunque fiat nei segmenti dal D in su da sola non può fare, i tedeschi sono troppo superiori e nei suv fiat non esiste. Secondo me Fiat addirittura dovrebbe fare anche una JV per il segmento C dove avere piattaforme comuni per grandi numeri iniziano ad essere necessarie come è stato fatto per Gpunto con Opel Corsa.

Fiat supporting Tata in bid for Jaguar/Land Rover

While Ford's kicking Land Rover and Jaguar entirely out of the nest, leaving their eventual buyer to fend for themselves, potential bidder Tata Motors of India will have some help. Tata wants to expand into other markets beyond India, and luxury European marques could be a good point of entry. They've already indicated an interest in Jaguar and Land Rover, and Tata partners with Italy's Fiat building cars and engines in India, so there's a relationship established. Fiat's ready to help its partner in the form of technical support should Tata purchase Ford's British nameplates. What exactly that means, we're not sure, but Fiat's got a lot of experience running global automotive operations, so its advice and consent about how to successfully run Jaguar and Land Rover would be very helpful to Tata in its quest for expansion.

Ford reconsidering Jaguar, Land Rover sale

Jaguar and Land Rover are still on the block and as bidding moves to round two it seems that parent company Ford is having second thoughts.

It is one of the showstoppers at Frankfurt this year. Jaguar's XF, which replaces the S type. The car comes at a time when the Ford group company is on the block along with Land Rover.

Like all motor shows the Ford family stayed together even though the future of the brands is uncertain under the Ford umbrella.

At Land Rover the new Freelander took centre stage and given the good sales at the British marque off late, new products are being viewed as a sign of confidence.

But which way will the bids for the stake sale go? Sources close to the development have told NDTV that strengthening sales and appeal of both the brands have led the Ford management reconsider selling the entire stake in both companies.

Minority stake

Ford is now leaning towards the option of selling minority stakes to PE firms. The company's board members are now keen to retain management control.

This means that both Mahindra and Tata's bids look shaky and the chances now look better for Jacques Nasser's OneEquity Partners, Ripplewood and Cerberus.

The Indian companies will also lose interest in case only a minority stake is on offer. But sources also say bankers working on the deal have advised Ford to stick with plans of a total sale as it would be the best option to raise much needed funds.

Ford is also thinking of the option of retaining a minority stake with board participation in both companies. In such a scenario Tata-Fiat and Hyundai are likely to be the front runners from the auto sphere, besides the PE players.

Ford has also confirmed that Volvo is not on the block at this time and sources in Land Rover have also shared with NDTV that Land Rover is currently studying the feasibility of adding India as a market and an entry is likely in a few months.

India's Mahindra & Mahindra has decided not to place a bid for Ford's Jaguar and Land Rover brands. Mahindra made the decision because of uncertainty in the supply of powertrains from Ford once the deal was signed. The Indian automaker was also concerned about meeting stricter emissions regulations proposed by the European Union to start in 2012.

According to Automotive News, Mahindra was more interested in Land Rover — the automaker primarily makes SUVs and is looking for a premium brand in the segment — but Ford wants to bundle the sale of Jaguar and Land Rover. Ford has also announced that it will not hold future stakes in either company.

Mahindra's rival, Tata Motors, is also considering purchasing the brands from Ford in a joint venture with Italian automaker Fiat.

Io pensavo che Jaguar e Land Rover fossero messe in vendita da Ford invece si vede che sono gia state acquistate da Chrysler che ora le mette in vendita

Fiat su Jaguar e Land Rover

Fiat non è interessata ad acquistare Jaguar e Land Rover, ma è pronta a collaborare con chi si aggiudicherà i due marchi del gruppo Ford Motor. "Ho detto chiaramente che non mi sarei mai presentato come acquirente di questi asset", ha detto l'AD Sergio Marchionne. "Come Fiat ho dato disponibilità a dare assistenza a Tata (partner indiano di Fiat) per la possibile acquisizione e a collaborare con loro se fossero diventati padroni dei due marchi". "Se non è Tata, siamo disposti a collaborare con tutti, non solo per quanto riguarda Jaguar e Land Rover", ha aggiunto Marchionne. "I due marchi hanno elementi di interesse per Fiat come la presenza della rete di distribuzione negli Usa. Ma non bisogna comprare gli asset per farlo. Acquistarla quindi mai, lavorare con chi acquista siamo disposti a farlo". Secondo alcune fonti le offerte per Jaguar e Land Rover saranno presentate tra fine ottobre e inizio di novembre.
