secondo le dichiarazioni del sig Akio toyoda , rilasciate durante il salone di tokio, il progetto 086 A procede nonostante tutto, il design e il telaio hanno praticamente terminato il loro sviluppo anche se vi sono ritardi aulla tabella di marcia prevista. Il ritardo pare che non sia causato dalla crisi e neppure dalla scelta dell'impianto di produzione, veniva ventilata la ristrutturazione di un impianto subaru oppure la costruzione dal nulla di un nuovo stabilimento ,ma dalla messa a punto del 2.0 litri boxer subaru dotato di iniezione diretta , boxer forse aspirato.

dico che col nome di "sprinter trueno" rinasce un mito (cit.)...almeno per il pubblico di appassionati giapponesi (e qualcuno anche non giapponese;))

It seems that development codes for the Japanese version have been finalized, bearing the 086A designation. Development codes for Europe and North America are still subject to change. The base powerplant has been established as a revised 2.0-liter EJ20 unit with direct injection fuel system that can produce 198hp at 7200 rpm and 148lb-ft torque. A disguised test car is set to hit the Nurburgring at the later part of April 2009. At this point in time, it looks like all developments are coming from the Subaru camp, but with the confirmed 086A code, it is not farfetched to expect Toyota to pull some tricks from its sleeves. 7 tune.coms

The Subaru brand has not exactly been the prime example of a fuel-efficient automaker. Its recent partner Toyota has been missing from boys' posters of their favourite hot hatches and sports cars. Together the companies decided to rectify this situation by creating the 086A Project, a small sports car destined to take the best of both; performance with fuel-efficiency.

So far it's been going well but the eco snag has hit the project harder, possibly because of the current state of the world economy but more so because of tighter government pressures. The result of all this is that the 086A will now get less power from its rumoured 2.0-litre boxer engine. What was thought to be a 147kW (200hp) spicy two-door has instead turned into a 118kW (160hp) mild ginger. Incidentally the two respective power figures appear on the VW Scirocco's spec sheet as well. Never mind we are told, the car has also lost some weight to counter this sudden power-shedding.

More still is that the primary target market has shifted from a younger set to buyers between 30 and 50 years of age. The much-depleted Tokyo Motor Show coming up in October will provide the first official public glimpse of Project 086A and executives are sure to be present in order to gauge public reaction.
