Spy photographers caught the first images of an undisguised Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, based on the 2008 C-Class, revealed earlier this year. The AMG sports sedan will deliver somewhere between 400 and 500 horsepower.

Although our spy photographer was quite a distance away, a long lens enabled us to see the quad tailpipes, as well as – if you look closely – the “C63” and “AMG” badges.

The final horsepower figure for the C63 remains a mystery. The 6.2-liter V8 is capable of producing up to 520 horsepower — in the CL 63, for example — but will likely be tamed to around 420 horsepower to compete with BMW's new .

That’s still in line with the new BMW M3 and an increase in power of around 10 percent over today’s model. We expect the new C 63 AMG saloon and estate to break out in Frankfurt in September this year. There’s hope for those who prefer a BMW over a Mercedes as Munich will soon launch the Touring variant of the all-new M3, but Audi enthusiasts will have to wait quite a bit longer for their all new S4 Avant which is unlikely to make it before 2010.

Difatti anche le rivali non è che siano delle 106 rallie.......

Cmq leggevo il confronto tra i 3 V8 su Auto. E quello AMG mi ha stupito. E' il più grosso, coppiso, potente del lotto. Ma è anche il più leggero. Segno che la progettazione è alquanto raffinata........

E' il primo motore grosso "buono" che fanno... son bravi tutti a fare cosoni enormi pesanti e con compressori giganteschi.... tipo il 5.5Kompressor

Poi è ottimo anche il 1.8K che c'è da qualche anno
