La Scozia, i suoi verdi pascoli, i campi da golf, i pescosi torrenti, i castelli e gli splendidi percorsi in fuoristrada. I dintorni di Edimburgo sono questo e molto altro, ma la prova della Range Rover Sport 2012 fa passare in secondo piano le mille attrattive della Britannia settentrionale per far emergere lo spirito offroad che alberga in molti automobilisti. Questa trasferta scozzese ci ricorda anche che la rinnovata Range Rover Sport non è solo un’affascinante e grintosa SUV da esibire nelle località alla moda, ma una vera fuoristrada che ama affrontare fango, neve, guadi e declivi insospettabili. Questa versione aggiornata della “Sport” gioca poi la carta del 3.0 SDV6 potenziato a 255 CV e del cambio automatico ZF a 8 rapporti, elementi che già da soli giustificano l’arrivo di questa “MY12”. Il prezzo base della versione HSE da noi provata è di 70.180 euro.

STILE VINCENTE NON SI CAMBIA

Solo gradite conferme sul fronte estetico, visto che questo MY 2012 si limita a proporre una nuova finitura nera lucida all’interno dei gruppi ottici anteriori, sul bordo della calandra, rinnovate grigliette laterali e maniglie in tinta carrozzeria. L’insieme resta piacevole e lussuoso, inconfondibilmente “Range” fin nei minimi dettagli e con uno stile che esprime forza da ogni angolo di visuale. Stile “british” a piene mani anche negli interni, dove pelli pregiate, massicci elementi in alluminio satinato e il legno laccato nero creano un ambiente esclusivo che è difficile trovare altrove. Una bella novità è costituita dall’arrivo del sistema Dual View per il touch screen da 7" in plancia che, per esempio, permette al pilota di seguire le indicazioni del navigatore e al passeggero a fianco di guardare un film o la TV sullo stesso schermo. Finalmente sulla Range Rover Sport 2012 c’è anche il portellone ad azionamento elettrico, molto utile quando si è da soli e si hanno un po’ di bagagli da caricare. Il vano di carico è come sempre ampio e con soglia d’accesso non troppo alta.

CON 225 CV E 8 MARCE SI FA APPREZZARE ANCOR DI PIU’

E’ facile amare la Range Rover Sport, soprattutto per il suo essere un vero fuoristrada che si guida come una vettura, ma con il nuovo 3.0 TDV6 da 255 CV è subito colpo di fulmine. La differenza rispetto alla precedente versione è sottile e quello che risulta evidente già dai primi chilometri di guida è il piacere offerto da questo turbodiesel che sa muovere con eleganza e facilità le 2 tonnellate e mezza della Sport. La coppia massima di 600 Nm viene fuori vivace e prepotente dal V6 a gasolio e aiuta a proiettare in avanti la massa della vettura, ad ogni regime. Complice di tanta piacevolezza di guida, oltre all’assetto “deciso” con sospensioni pneumatiche regolabili, è il cambio automatico ZF a 8 marce, unità ai vertici del mercato per dolcezza di funzionamento, rapidità di cambiata e semplicità di utilizzo con selettore rotante e palette sequenziali al volante. Nella guida stradale questa Range Rover Sport conferma quanto di buono ha proposto fin dalla nascita, vale a dire una tenuta sicura, una guidabilità automobilistica e un equilibrio generale che sfocia nella sportività. La frenata è potente ed efficace, nonostante l’inerzia di una simile mole in movimento.

REGINA IN FUORISTRADA

Un capitolo a parte lo merita la guida in fuoristrada, dove la Sport 3.0 SDV6 225 CV dimostra una naturalezza pari a quella della cugina Discovery 4 e inferiore solo alla specialistica Defender. Salite fangose al 30/35% di pendenza, guadi di profonde pozze e di piccoli torrenti non la spaventano, come non mostra incertezze nell’affrontare alcune centinaia di metri nello stretto alveo di un rio montano costellato di pietre e alberi caduti. Basta inserire con semplici comandi le marce ridotte, l’assetto rialzato e la modalità di trazione adeguata (a scelta fra fango, neve, erba, ghiaia, sabbia) per far sì che la grande offroad inglese possa cavarsela in ogni condizione, con la precisione e la facilità dell’elettronica di bordo o con l'impeto di un guidatore esperto in fuoristrada. Chiunque, anche senza esperienze specifiche, può lanciarsi in percorsi impegnativi senza patema di rimanere bloccato o trovarsi in difficoltà. Mobilità a tutto tondo, quindi, con il lusso di una berlina inglese, l’abitabilità di un’ammiraglia, capacità di carico e traino ai massimi livelli, doti da autentico fuoristrada e un piacere di guida che appaga anche i più esigenti.

Gaydon, Warwickshire, 6th July 2011 - The exceptional 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engines in the Range Rover Sport now offer even greater efficiencies, with reduced CO2, improved fuel economy and an increase in power for 2012. The output of the 245hp engine has been increased to 256hp whilst CO2 emissions have been reduced from 243g/km to 230g/km.

These improvements are partly due to the introduction of the new, highly-efficient,

ZF 8HP70, 8-speed automatic gearbox, combining smooth shifting and improved fuel economy. The combined fuel economy has improved from 30.7mpg to 32.1mpg. In conjunction with the new 8-speed gearbox, the Range Rover Sport SDV6 comes equipped with the 'Drive Select' rotary gear shift and steering wheel-mounted paddle shift.

All EU5 SDV6 models are equipped with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) making them among the cleanest diesel engines on the market.

The awe-inspiring 5.0 LR-V8 Supercharged remains unchanged for 2012, continuing to offer supreme power delivering 0-60mph in under 6.0 seconds and sublime refinement.

Design and equipment levels have moved up a level too with colour changes to exterior detailing and new interior colour ways for the Autobiography Sport. A new powered single piece tailgate has also been introduced across the range for 2012, enabling drivers to set their desired lift height.

For the first time on the Range Rover Sport, the next generation 7-inch touch-screen is available with optional Dual View technology, allowing the driver to view the navigation display whilst the passenger watches TV or a DVD whilst listening on WhiteFireTM headphones. The rear seat entertainment package has also been enhanced with the availability of WhiteFireTM wireless technology.

Significant specification and performance improvements have been made to the

Hi-ICE and Premium audio systems, offering a staggering 825W of power through 17 speakers on the Premium Harmon Kardon LOGIC 7. The new ‘Say What You See' voice command helps the driver learn commands with useful step-by-step screen prompts and allows the use of spoken short codes too.

5.0 LR-V8 supercharged engine continues to lead the pack

Land Rover's remarkable 5.0 LR-V8 supercharged petrol engine continues to head the Range Rover Sport powertrain range in 2012. Developing 510hp and 625Nm torque it set new standards in petrol engine design when it was introduced, packed as it is with innovation design features aimed at boosting both performance and economy.

Powered tailgate for greater convenience

A new powered restyled tailgate has been introduced across the range for 2012. Operated by the button located on the fascia, the key fob or tailgate, the lift height can now be set by simply holding the tailgate at the desired height and pressing the tailgate button for 10 seconds. The height can be overridden to accommodate other drivers, providing effortless use and greater convenience to the user. He tailgate has been made from aluminium foe added weight reduction.

Enhanced interior and external design revisions across the range

The external design and interiors of the Range Rover Sport, Autobiography Sport and Limited Edition are all upgraded for 2012.

For the Range Rover Sport, there are changes to the rear tailgate graphics to create a distinctive new look and a Gloss Black treatment to the headlight inners and grille surround. The SE derivative now sports a Dark Atlas grille whilst the HSE and Supercharged take on the Light Atlas. The Supercharged model is also fitted with a new 20" alloy wheel finished in Sparkle Silver with high-gloss lacquer.

Infotainment levels significantly upgraded for 2012

The introduction of the Hi-ICE and Premium audio and infotainment systems sees a significant upgrade for the 2012 Range Rover Sport. There's new connectivity supporting DVD audio formats on the Hi-Line and Premium systems, a Hard Disc Drive Music server, Dual Tuner to give a seamless signal, iPod and video streaming by USB, audio streaming by Bluetooth and two USB ports are located in the console lid. Rear seat entertainment is further enhanced with the availability of WhiteFireTM wireless technology incorporating cordless headphones.

The Hi-ICE Harman Kardon System has been upgraded from 9-speakers to 11-speakers and the output boosted from 240W to a substantial 380W. The optional premium Harman Kardon LOGIC 7 system has seen the most dramatic improvement, from 14 to 17 speakers and an almost unbelievable increase in output power from 480W to a staggering 825W.

For the first time on a Range Rover Sport, the next generation 7-inch touch-screen is available with Dual View technology. Dual View first appeared on the Range Rover for 2010, allowing the driver to view the navigation display whilst the passenger watches a DVD. When the Dual View screen is selected a single set of WhiteFireTM headphones are included to enable to listen to a soundtrack independently of the driver.

Hard Disc Navigation systems include Traffic Message Channel (TMC) and destination entry by voice. The new ‘Say What You See' voice command helps the driver learn commands with useful step-by-step screen prompts and allows the use of spoken short codes. There's also a new 7-day timer for the Park Heater.

HSE Luxury Pack

A Luxury Pack is also available on the 3.0 SDV6 HSE bringing equipment levels close to that of Supercharged models. The pack includes contrast stitching on selected upholstery, 20-inch alloy wheels, Premium ICE, extended leather pack, HSE Luxury badge, heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control. The Luxury Pack costs £3,065.

Fuori non è cambiato più di tanto, in ogni caso coi nuovi fari e paraurti è un pò più moderna pur nella sua classicità, come interni invece il passo avanti rispetto alla serie attuale è notevole per completare questo riuscito restyling ci vedrei bene il nuovo 30 diesel che già c'è su jaugar.

Ottimo lavoro, soprattutto all'interno. Mi piace la direzione che sta prendendo il design L.R., vediamo che combineranno col defender, visto che tra pochi anni sarà fuori legge...

Mi sembrano comunque abbastanza riusciti, i facelifts della gamma Land Rover visti oggi Alla fine, sono gli unici SUV che mi vanno un po' a genio (oltre alle Jeep)...forse più per motivi "storici". Anzi, senza il "forse"
