certo è che, pur essendo emiliano, a Modena non capiscono un c***....dalla gestione del MEF fallimentare, al fatto che non sfruttano l'immagine di "città dell'auto" al fatto che a suo tempo non si è voluto ampliare lo stabilimento che, seppur storico, è piccolo.

 

Ma sapete smog, rumore e altra vaccate hanno portato a questo. Io, fossei nei modenesi un esame di coscienza me lo farei prima di dar colpa a Fiat.

 

Oltretutto è troppo strano che prima portino Alfa a Modena come cnetro sviluppo, poi tolgano Maserati. Potrei capire la produzione (poco...), ma il centro sviluppo e test deve star li.

Maserati’s twin sports car future

Maserati will launch two new sports cars by the end of 2018 with a replacement for the GranTurismo joined by the all-new Alfieri.

Speaking at the launch of the brand's first SUV, the Levante, Maserati engineer Davide Danesin confirmed the company is working on new underpinnings for both sports cars.

When the Alfieri concept was revealed in 2014 it was believed it would replace the GranTurismo, but Danesin confirmed both models will sit alongside each other targeting different customers.

The Alfieri will be a smaller 2+2 layout designed to go head-to-head with the likes of the Porsche 911 while the GranTurismo – and likely GranCabrio convertible variant – will remain larger, four-seat GT cars.

Having developed an all-new modular underpinnings for the Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante, Danesin revealed that Maserati has moved to the next phase in its product development.

"Today the architecture is shared between Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante," Danesin said. "With the Alfieri we think we need to make another step on the architecture so we're going to arrive at another more sporty architecture, with some common basis [with Ghibli] but with development from there."

Asked about specific changes Danesin explained the sports cars would be lower and lighter than their four-door siblings and use more aluminium to save weight.

"Basically what we need to have is very much lower engine instillation, lower hood... Also what we want to do is move the wheels a little bit outside the cabin, make a longer hood. A more sporty shape, let's say," he said.

"So we are basically adapting the new design to have more distance between the front suspension and the cabin. And also on these cars we are going to work on multi-material body, more aluminium."

Although Danesin didn't talk about engines power for the sports cars is likely to come from the same range of twin-turbo V6 and V8 engines already used in the current range.

For the Levante the 3.0-litre V6 has been upgraded to now produce 316kW of power and 580Nm of torque. The 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 in the Quattroporte GTS is currently good for 390kW and 650Nm but it is believed more performance can be extracted.

While both cars are also likely to use the same eight-speed automatic transmission as the Ghibli/Quattroporte duo Danesin effectively ruled out using Maserati's Q4 all-wheel drive system that is found on both  the sedans – at least for the short-term.

"The application of all-wheel drive for the sports cars may be limiting the style somehow," he explained.

"So let's say for the next sports car we don't foresee all-wheel drive to be the best option for the style [of car]. We also have some solution for some sports cars with all-wheel drive for the future but that is not what we're working on now." 

The new GranTurismo is expect to break cover in Europe in 2017, with production of the current model due to cease during next year, while the Alfieri will be held until 2018.

Porca miseria avevo abbandonato i propositi di diventare ricco, invece mi tocca di nuovo rimettermi a pensare a come produrre quattrini

Era stato detto che avrebbero fermato la produzione della GT attuale alla fine di quest'anno. E' cambiato qualcosa anche per la fabbrica di Modena?

Più che accorciato, la prossima generazione di telaio sarà  ribassato, allargato, alleggerito, modificato per abbandonare le linee di cofanobtroppo alte e le sospensioni posteriori che ti fanno le gobbe esterne ma ti entrano in cabina lo stesso...piu propriamente Maserati e non più chrysler, in altre parole. Speriamo che anche per gli interni vogliano emanciparsi per l'"aggeggistica" e affiancarsi ad Alfa o Ferrari invece di chrysler/dodge/jeep.

 - le due sportive sono confermate

 - saranno basate sulla' architettura di Ghibli/QP/Levante con cambiamenti strutturali 

 - rispetto ai piani iniziali la tempistica cambia, ciò' prima GT, poi Alfieri

 - sempre in contrasto ai piani iniziali anche Alfieri per ora solo TP (TI forse con modulo ibrido, speculazione mia eh!)

 - sempre in contrasto ai piani iniziali GT dovrebbe arrivare anche V6 ed anche Cabrio

da cosa dicono ufficiosamente, sto benedetto telaio di ghibli conserverà praticamente nulla 

 

Punto anche io sul modulo ibrido per le 4wd 

 

V6 pare sarà necessaria per certi mercati, cabrio non mi risultava ma ben venga: l'attuale è un barcone affascinante

Domanda...ma la Alfieri la faranno anche V8 come Ghibli? Dal piano era scritto solo v6, ma essendo Alfieri rivolta ad una clientela ben diversa rispetto a GT, c'è questa possibilità?
