Subito dopo che sono state pubblicate le foto nella veste definitiva mi lha lasciato perplesso....... Più passano le settimane e più guardo le foto "live" (intuendo meglio le proporzioni) vedo nella "commenda's car" un'ottima alternativa al segmento.

Novità.. Secondo Car And Driver i motori di QP VI saranno

- V8 Turbo da 520 cv

- V6 sovralimentato da 420 cv (supercharged... volumetrico? - anche per le future Alfa) progettato dallo stesso gruppo che sta lavorando ai futuri V6 turbo da F1.

It’s been a long time coming, but the sixth-generation Maserati Quattroporte is nearly certain to make its world premiere at the Detroit auto show in January, with an on-sale date a few months thereafter. We’ve been following the progress of the next-gen Quattroporte (check out our spy photos of the Q-porte here); what wasn’t explicit was that it will be the centerpiece of Fiat’s $1 billion-plus investment in the future of Maserati products.

This new Quattroporte project was approved as early as 2006, prior to the industry-shaking tie-up with Chrysler. The economic meltdown has delayed the project by years, hence the longer-than-planned life cycle of the current Quattroporte.

The crown jewel of the all-new Italian sport sedan will be a pair of new engines, both being engineered—in keeping with recent Maserati tradition—and assembled by Ferrari at the Maranello factory. The car will debut with its range-topping powerplant, a 520-hp turbocharged V-8. The second, and more noteworthy, unit is an all-new, 420-hp supercharged V-6. (Yes, you read that correctly; a Ferrari-engineered V-6.) The six-cylinder won’t be released until after the car’s debut.

This new super-six comes from the same group in Maranello that is heading up development of Ferrari’s new Formula 1 engine, which will be a 1.6-liter turbocharged V-6 to fall in line with new regulations for 2014. Compared to the V-8 in the Ferrari California, the Ferrari-sourced six is said to be 30-percent more fuel efficient. The 450-pound overall weight loss from the previous-gen four-door Maser, achieved in part through intensive usage of aluminum, will play a major role in the new six-cylinder Quattroporte’s fuel-efficiency improvement.

Mated to both the six- and eight-cylinder powerplants will be a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. It will not be a dual-clutch setup, but rather a traditional transmission with a torque converter; it will replace the current ZF six-speed auto. Also leaving the Quattroporte’s powertrain options list will be the much-maligned six-speed sequential manual.

As we mentioned, the Quattroporte is the centerpiece of Fiat’s $1 billion-plus investment in Maserati. But all the money isn’t simply for Ferrari, for building a production line’s worth of bespoke engines. Pininfarina must be paid for its involvement in the design of the new Q-porte (look at the Cambiano concept for visual cues of the new design); Italdesign must be paid for its involvement in the design of the Kubang; and Maserati’s facilities will be upgraded to handle the production of all these new vehicles, and the brand’s aim of annual production of 50,000 units by 2015.

Stemming from this program is another Fiat investment, this time in Alfa Romeo: One of Sergio Marchionne’s pet projects is making Ferrari’s supercharged V-6 available to the Alfa brand.

Tutto sommato le indiscrezioni potrebbero essere credibili dal punto di vista delle frazionature e dei cavalli

L'articolo conferma il trend sulle trasmissioni ed ovviamente si punterà sull'ottimo ZF 8rapporti, ma spero -e credo- che si potrà optare anche per il robotizzato.

Tutto ciò si riallaccerebbe agli articoli letti in questi giorni sull'investimento di Fiat/Ferrari per far produrre a quest'ultima i V6
