THE LANCIA YPSILON WINS THE PRESTIGIOUS 'EUROPEAN AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN AWARD'

The new Ypsilon has won the prestigious 'European Automotive Design Award' in the compact car category. It was chosen by a jury made up of 200 design students and automotive stylists from over 30 countries.

The award-giving ceremony was held during the Brussels International Motor Show, and was organised by 'Designers' (Europe), an independent association created in 1989 which promotes car design all over Europe.

Taking first place ahead of important competition such as the Citroen C2 and the Ford Fiesta, Lancia's 'small flagship' won the international jury over with its extraordinary personality. Its original styling is representative of Lancia's constant stylistic evolution, which focuses entirely on Italian class. This is why the new car is a real 'concentrate' of the qualities of a flagship: an elegant line that reinterprets the stylistic tradition of Lancias of the past in a modern key, the refined combinations of colours, fabrics and materials, and the many opportunities to create a car that reflects the tastes and lifestyle of each customer. There are no less than 555 possible combinations, obtained by mixing body colours, fabrics and materials and the alloy wheels from the Lineaccessori.

The Lancia Ypsilon has all the distinction and prestige of an élite, upmarket car, plus the excellent handling typical of a compact. Designed for a clientele that likes to stand out through exclusive products and for whom the car must be a pleasure to use, the new Ypsilon offers an array of exclusive devices that place it at the top of its class: the huge Skydome sunroof, the dual zone automatic climate system, and the Bose® Hi-fi Sound System. And we cannot overlook the fact that its performance on the road, its behaviour that is always predictable, and the ease and enjoyment of driving it are also the result of the performance delivered by its four engines: the classic, popular 60 bhp 1.2 and 80 bhp 1.2 16v, and the new powerful 95 bhp 1.4 16v and 70 bhp 1.3 Multijet 16v. There is even the option of an innovative robotised sequential gearbox. In other words, whichever one you choose, the Lancia Ypsilon is the ideal car for town traffic and for short or long journeys out of town.
