And word from auto express is that the next veyron model will top out at 270 mph (434.52 km/h) - at the very peak of the record top speed set by the current veyron super sport.

But the next veyron will look different and will take some inspiration from the original veyron concept by walter de silva, now head of design at vw group, from way back in 1999. That design was never revealed to the public, with another veyron concept by hartmut warkuss, the 18/4, beating it to the punch at the 1999 tokyo motor show.

The car pictured here is a design study by canadian john mark vicente called the bugatti renaissance, posited as a veyron successor.

Powering the next veyron will still be the 8.0 liter w16 engine laden with four turbochargers coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Output will also likely be similar to the current super sport - 1,200 bhp (895 kw / 1217 ps) and 1,500 nm of torque.

The new veyron will have a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of around 2.5 seconds and slightly inch past the super sport's performance numbers by means of weight-saving measures.

Bugatti will be summoning the help of sister brand lamborghini to keep the veyron's weight to around 1,838 kg (4,052 lbs). It will use carbon-composite materials for its monocoque chassis and much of its cabin trim. The next veyron will also come with thinner glass and lighter alloy wheels to reduced overall weight by about 100 kg (220 lbs) over its predecessor.

The new veyron will debut sometime in 2013 and will go on sale the following year with prices over £1 million (€1.2 million).

Verifica delle fonti zero.

L'unica novità sulla Veyron deriva da questa dichiarazione del gran capo Winterkorn ad Autocar a riguardo della berlina di lusso Galiber, definitivamente cancellata.

“The Galibier is officially dead,” Winterkorn confirmed to Autocar. “We won’t do it. In its place will be a second-generation Veyron with more power.”

Frase che non dice nulla, perchè si sapeva già che devono dare un erede alla Veyron.

Ma non poteva certo dire "Per Bugatti, abbiamo cancellato definitivamente la berlina di lusso e la nuova Veyron di cui diciamo da anni che sta per uscire non è ancora pronta".

Meglio un più diplomatico "Non facciamo la Galiber così possiamo lavorare su una nuova Veyron".

Quindi a oggi non si praticamente nulla sullo sviluppo di un nuovo modello?

Con l'attuale che dovrebbe uscire di produzione alla fine di quest'anno si dovrebbe cominciare ad avere info al riguardo
