After all the hype about a "new luxury car brand" that will hand-build "the world’s first Super-SUV", the self-proclaimed "independent, boutique British luxury carmaker, uniquely based in London", which we will come to know as Eterniti Motors, has lifted the covers off something that looks like/is a heavily tuned second-generation Porsche Cayenne ahead of its Frankfurt show debut.

While the British company does not specifically refer to the Porsche model, it has previously stated that the Hemera "is based on the latest generation of the best large SUV platform available, which will undergo a chassis-up rebuild, with a new, repackaged interior, carbon-composite body panels and additional performance".

The first official pictures leave few doubts that the the Porsche Cayenne is the donor vehicle.

According to the company, the Hemera will sport a limousine-like rear cabin, with twin electric reclining seats, iPads and a drinks chiller, while the SUV will be motivated by a 620bhp engine offering a top speed in excess of 180mph or 289km/h.

In other words, unless Eterniti is hiding a surprise or two under its sleeves, the Hemera is more or less in the same league (in philosophy, not in the details) with other extreme Cayenne tuning jobs such the Gemballa Tornado and the Medrad Cayenne 902 Coupe.

Primo articolo :

Eterniti Motors, a new British luxury automaker (or so they claim) based in London (or so they claim), plans to unveil their first vehicle (or so they... wait... no, this would be their first vehicle) at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show. It's called the Hemera. There's no details yet other than this sketch showing a vaguely angry-looking gaping-mouthed crossover. By the way, you know it's the end of the automotive world when even the crazy-ass never-before-heard-of automakers are unveiling crossovers. Oy.

Secondo articolo :

Late last month we learned London-based Eterniti Motors, a newly-announced luxury automotive brand, would unveil a brand-new luxury crossover. It's called the "Hemera" — and here it is. Because, you know, the world needed another new luxury crossover. Somebody shoot me now. Please.

British cars are now a lie. They're a fancy title meant to make us forget most of the famous marques are now owned by German, Chinese, Thai, American, Indian, and even Kuwaiti companies. But the obviously Porsche Cayenne-based Eterniti Hemera takes this deception to absurd new levels. Guten Tag, Mates!

Where even to begin? When foreign automakers buy British badges they work so hard to pretend the cars are actually made in jolly old England we forget most brands are split between ze Germans and Englands former colonies.

Eterniti is turning this model on its head by importing the very German Porsche Cayenne to London, giving it some bespoke body panels, and calling it "British." For shame.

I have no objections to taking a Cayenne and giving it a "chassis-up rebuild" with carbon-composite body panels and a 620-hp twin-turbo V8. Plenty of companies do the same. I'm just amused at how much Eterniti is trumpeting their Britishness.

What's it mean to be a "British" automaker? To fail and have your company absorbed by a massive foreign entity? Actually, the company admits to being "backed by a group of international investors" whileI take it all back. Eterniti is actually just skipping ahead to the logical conclusion of any British luxury brand — a company marketing itself as "British," while building its car on a German platform with a foreign owner.
