While the GM inventory woes have been a fixture of TTAC for months, excess inventory isn’t the sole domain of GM’s pickups. Chrysler is having its own issues, with the Dodge Dart suffering from a glut of inventory.

Ward’s Auto reports that there is a 112 day supply of Darts, roughly double the industry’s preferred supply level. While Chrysler’s Illinois plant is cited as a factor in the oversupply of these cars, the launch of the Dart didn’t go as smoothly as planned. Initial sales were poor, hampered by an oversupply of manual transmission cars (yes, heresy, I know).

2. Dodge Dart> Company: Chrysler

Chrysler placed much emphasis on the Dart, hoping it could compete with other compact cars such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Ford Focus. The company began its marketing campaign during the Major League Baseball All-Star game with a 90-second commercial featuring NFL quarterback Tom Brady. Even though Chrysler aimed for the fences, the Dart appears to have struck out. Initial sales were as low as 200 units a month. And although Chrysler managed to sell 4,500 Darts in November, it was well below sales of the Civic and Corolla, which sold 30,075 and 22,255, respectively, during the same month. Analysts at Edmunds.com tell 24/7 Wall St. that Chrysler did not have experience selling compact cars in the same manner it had selling Jeeps and trucks. Reviewers from Consumer Reports failed to give the Dart its “recommended” rating due to powertrain issues.

The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.

Sará meglio che si sbrighino, questo genere di pubblicità negativa non giova un granché alla "nomea" del prodotto.... Magari basta un cambio di strategia alla "Soave" .....ma magari no.....

insomma se non hanno, sotto qualsiasi coso di ferro che superi i 10 piedi, un v8 da millemila litri aste bilancieri con 190 cv @5000 rpm, cambio 3 marce ecc. e interni in pelle di camoscio con dadi appesi al retrovisore non riescono proprio ad accompagnarli, sti bimbi a scuola...

mi lasciano perplesso sti ammeregani a volte...
