Ah ecco, mi era rimasta impressa la MR340.

Comunque il succo cambia poco: sono diventate vetture praticamente inaccessibili ai più, percui concordo con te: occorre tornare con i piedi per terra e far usare vetture prodotte in almeno 5'000 pezzi (era questo il limite minimo per ottenere l'omologazione come Gruppo A) e sopratutto devono essere vetture vere, non vetture normali ai quali puoi montare degli accessori estetici e stravolgerle meccanicamente.

Questa vettura "entry-level" è solo il primo passo verso un ritorno sulla scena iridata

In attesa di rientrare in grande stile con una WRC vera e propria, la Toyota ha iniziato la sua marcia di avvicinamento ai rally con la realizzazione di una Yaris che potremmo definire in versione "trofeo".

Si tratta infatti di una vettura basata sul regolamento R1A, quindi pensata come una sorta di "entry-level" per i neofiti, che dovrebbe essere venduta ad un prezzo di circa 22.500 euro. L'omologazione dovrebbe arrivare entro la fine dell'anno e successivamente questa Yaris dovrebbe essere in grado di competere anche nel Mondiale Rally.

Intanto farà una prima apparizione sulla scena iridata in occasione del Rally di Germania, dove svolgerà il ruolo di "vettura zero" con al volante la tedesca Isolde Holderied.

"Tornare nei rally è una bella sensazione per la TMG, perchè si tratta di un mondo che ci ha regalato tanti successi in passato" ha detto il presidente di Toyota Motosport, Yoshiaki Kinoshita. "La Yaris R1A è un progetto completamente differente rispetto alle WRC del nostro passato: è una vettura accessibile a tutti, che però può essere divertente da guidare".

"Abbiamo già ricevuto parecchie richieste di informazioni su questa vettura, anche perchè sappiamo che il nome Toyota crea sempre un certo interesse nei rally. Speriamo che questo sia solo l'inizio di una nuova dinastia TMG" ha aggiunto.

TOYOTA MOTORSPORT GmbH ANNOUNCES TMG GT86 CS-R3 RALLY CAR

Cologne, Germany - TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) is proud to announce it will develop a GT86 R3 rally car as part of its customer motorsport programme.

The rear-wheel drive sports car will be converted to R3 specification and made available to private competitors, with delivery expected for the 2015 season.

The car, which will be known as the TMG GT86 CS-R3, will be built according to R3 regulations, meaning it will have a six-speed sequential gearbox, limited slip differential, modified engine, adapted brakes and other upgrades.

Drawing on the experience of developing the TMG GT86 CS-V3 race car for the Nürburgring-based VLN series, TMG engineers will modify the base car to the maximum level permitted within the regulations.

The TMG GT86 CS-R3 is targeted at private customers and is eligible for all FIA-sanctioned rallies, up to and including the World Rally Championship. Full specifications and pricing will be announced in the coming months.

Today's announcement strengthens TMG's commitment to customer motorsport and rallying, both of which represent key aspects of its long-term business strategy.

With a Yaris R1A already launched plus the ongoing development of a Global Race Engine, TMG is expanding and strengthening its knowledge of rallying and drawing on its proud history in the sport.

TMG's very existence is founded on rally, having begun life in Cologne in 1979 as Toyota Team Europe (TTE). Under Ove Andersson, the company went on to win four drivers' and three manufacturers' World Championships.

Bella sarà pur bella, ma mi chiedo dove pensano di andare con la trazione posteriore!?!?!....dico, si son bevuti il cervello???...(purtroppo!!! e sottolineo PURTROPPO!!!!!!) non è più tempo per macchine eroiche dal culo scodante!!! Ora ci vogliono le auto sui binari!!!
