Mercedes-Benz Citan: even cleaner, more attractive

Stuttgart – Thanks to a number of advancements, the Mercedes-Benz Citan urban delivery van is now even more attractive. The modifications have been made with a focus on progressing to the Euro 6 emissions standard. With new optional extras ranging from a double passenger seat and a factory-fitted navigation system to a skylight or reversing camera, the Citan is now even more practical and individual than before. All new products and features are available to order now with deliveries gradually being made from June onwards.

The Citan is now low-emission in compliance with Euro 6 without SCR technology

As from June all Mercedes-Benz Citan vehicles registered as passenger cars will comply with the Euro 6 emissions regulation as standard. Anyone buying a Citan registered as a commercial vehicle from this time will also be able to specify Euro 6 compliance as an option, more than a year before this becomes a legal obligation.

The new emissions standard has certainly made the Citan clean for the future: all variants of the Citan with diesel engine achieve Euro 6 simply through internal engine measures and a storage-type NOx catalytic converter. No complex SCR technology is necessary. This means that drivers will no longer have to worry about using AdBlue as an extra service fluid.

BlueEFFICIENCY package and more torque for diesel with Euro 6

All Citan vehicles complying with the Euro 6 emissions standard come with the BlueEFFICIENCY package as standard. Among other features, this includes an ECO start/stop function and lowers fuel consumption for the diesel models to just 4.3 litres/100 km according to NEDC. The Citan achieves this outstanding consumption figure without compromising performance.

Progressing to Euro 6 actually increases maximum torque by 20 Nm for each diesel engine, to figures ranging between 200 Nm and 260 Nm. This translates into a noticeable rise in pulling power of around ten percent. Output remains unchanged at between 55 kW (75 hp) and 81 kW (110 hp).

Even more individual: practical new optional equipment

Thanks to new optional equipment, the Citan is now even more individual. 'Long' models registered as passenger cars are available with a split tilting skylight above the front seats if desired. The glass is tinted and each half can be opened manually and separately in the direction of travel. Over the rear, the new integral panorama skylight ensures that the interior is flooded with light.

The Citan is made even more flexible with the new double passenger seat. Both seats have height-adjustable head restraints and three-point seat belts. If no-one is using these seats, the backrests can be folded forwards with the centre backrest then acting as a writing surface if needed. There is a stowage compartment underneath the double seat.

A new navigation system developed specially for the Citan points the way to the destination. The device has a 1-DIN form factor and is operated via a touch-sensitive 87 mm (3.5-inch) screen. As well as GPS navigation with map material for Western Europe, the equipment includes a USB port, a micro SD card slot, AUX interfaces and Bluetooth. The DAB + digital transmission standard ensures excellent radio reception.

The new optional reversing camera makes manoeuvres at low speed easier, thereby boosting safety. The camera is hidden behind the licence plate holder on the tailgate or rear door. It is activated when reverse gear is engaged. The camera image is shown on the interior mirror and automatically dimmed if the light intensity is strong. Guide lines help with judging distances. Also new is the optional anti-theft alarm system for the Citan as a panel van, Mixto vehicle or Tourer registered as a commercial vehicle. The radio remote control on the vehicle key is used to activate it.

New name: the Citan crewbus is now the Citan Tourer

As well as new technical features, the Citan crewbus has a new name: the Citan Tourer. This brings the nomenclature for the Citan in line with the new Vito.

Un pò come se in una fiat uno ci fosse installata un'antica radio a valvole, farebbe in suo gran bell'effetto

cosa comoda: la videocamera posteriore piazzata nello specchio, avuta negli USA su un ford Econoline preso a noleggio (non so quanti metri di coso, più di 6 di sicuro), all'apparenza sembra piccola, ma è nella posizione più consona all'uopo senza esser costretti a guardar giù nella plancia in mezzo a una retro, quando spesso sono consigliati anche gli specchi laterali e uno sguardo d'insieme per evitare biciclette, bimbi che corrono dietro i palloni, alci, gnu o caribù che siano... Da provare, a me è piaciuta.

ultima piccola nota, la scritta N in corrispondenza della folle. Sempre molto divertente, ma magari l'utente medio di questo mezzo, folle pure lui per comprare un kangoo marchiato stella a prezzi astronomici, magari non lo sa..

OT: ce ne sono molte in commercio aftermarket. In effetti è molto comoda. E' il posto più naturale dove si guarda per fare retromarcia. Costa anche relativamente poco: Con la telecamera partono dai 40 euri
