The baby version of the new Mercedes SLS AMG has been rumored ever since the sports car hit the scene, but the company has remained silent regarding official confirmation. New evidence has now risen from the ashes that confirms the model will be built and as expected, will carry the label SLC.

The data stems from Head of Design Gorden Wagener who spoke to British magazine Autoexpress at the Beijing Auto Show. The model is still in its earlier stages of development so we shouldn't expect a release until 2014.

Power will reportedly be produced from a brand new 4.0-liter V8 engine that would likely have a power output of around 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS). The report also mentions that the new 3.5 liter V6 unit with 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) that debuted in the SLK could form part of the line-up.

Mercedes is targeting a selling price of around €80,000 for the new SLC which would make it a viable rival to the Porsche 911.

The new sports car is scheduled for launch in 2014 and has a projected price

of £75,000. The evocatively styled two-door has been conceived as a joint

exercise between Mercedes' regular passenger car department and its performance

car division, AMG.

Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche indicated that the 'baby SLS' front-engined

sports car will be an addition to the company's mid-size line-up, after

confirming an ambitious programme that will launch 10 new and 22 heavily

upgraded and/or facelifted models into the five market segments the German

manufacturer operates in before the end of 2015.

The expansion strategy is aimed at matching the projected growth rates of

homeland rivals Audi and BMW through to the middle of the decade.

In pratica dietro è monogomma tipo rullo compressore ! Hehehe ne serve di battistrada per tenere a bada i cavalli in più visto che con la SLS se non si hanno le gomme da stampo per fare le curve è necessario girare sempre il volante dalla parte opposta se si staccano tutti i controlli ed il nuovo V8 turbo ha una coppia devastante.

The Mercedes SLC (aka baby SLS) has reportedly suffered a setback.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, Mercedes' Board thought the car would be too expensive to tackle the Porsche 911. In light of this, the car has been put "under observation" which likely means development hasn't stopped but the model hasn't been green-lighted either. This could give engineers some freedom to find ways to reduce costs and eventually get it approved for production.

As we have previously reported, the Mercedes SLC was expected to be launched in 2014 and feature a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine with up to 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS).

Sarebbe un peccato se non dovesse arrivare in serie. Con SLS hanno tirato fuori una delle macchine più belle e desiderabili nella categoria, vedere come se la cavano per la metà del prezzo sarebbe interessante.

It's been a while since we last heard about the baby SLS, but now CAR has obtained new details about Mercedes' 911 rival. Codenamed internally "C190", the SLC AMG is set to use a revised version of the SLS' aluminum space frame architecture. Sources suggest it will lose the gullwing doors in order to shave off weight and improve body stiffness. Initially, it will be available exclusively as a coupe, but a roadster version could be considered.

The 1,550 kg (3,417 lbs) car will be launched with a new V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 485 hp (362 kW) and 500 lb-ft (677 Nm). This version will cost about 80,000 GBP (93,164 EUR or 126,568 USD).

The SLC S will cost around 115,000 GBP (134,145 EUR or 181,493 USD) and include a performance pack with carbon-ceramic brakes, bucket seats and a tuned V8 engine generating 585 hp (436 kW) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm) of torque. Both V8 variants will feature a dual-clutch, 7-speed transmission with shorter final drive ratio and a limited slip differential.

The entry-level variant will have a 333 hp (248 kW) 3.0-liter V6 engine and will be available later on in 2016. The base V6 model is expected to cost 70,000 GBP (81,653 EUR or 110,747 USD).

The concept could be hinting at the long-rumored SLC which apparently is due in 2015 according to latest rumors. Some say the new model will literally be a replacement as Mercedes-Benz plans a different car with a new name. Chances are it will be smaller and lighter than the SLS AMG Black Series in order to compete with the Porsche 911.

Reports are suggesting the car will be available with a V6 3.0-liter engine producing 333 hp (248 kW) and a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter with 485 hp (362 kW). These two engines will be connected to a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox and a limited slip differential.

Mercedes-Benz plans several versions of the new model to make it more competitive in the performance-car segment and could cost from 80,000 GBP (120,500 USD or 92,600 EUR) to 120,000 GBP (180,000 USD or 139,000 EUR).
