Il motore termico avrà quasi sicuramente un’architettura V8, considerata la bocciatura cui è andato incontro il V12: il precedente 6.0 da 500 CV è infatti ritenuto troppo pesante e massiccio.

Set to rival the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari's Enzo replacement, this Audi hypercar could wear the R10 moniker and feature some tech developed for the 2012 R18 e-tron that managed to win this year's Le Mans.

Audi technical development chief Wolfgang Durheimer gave an interview to Auto Express saying "there is definitely room for a super sports car above the R8" and if they would make it a diesel hybrid "it could be a hot-seller".

It could provide a combined power output of about 700 hp (522 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque that would enable it to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in three seconds and hit a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).
