Devo dire che sono molto curioso di vedere cosa potrebbe venir fuori anche da Alpine, la vecchia da bambino, al pari di Alfetta GTV mi affascinava tantissimo, complice anche il fatto che in giro qualcuna se ne vedeva. La Alpine era proprio sfiziosa, questa nuova vettura almeno, nelle intenzioni che si evincono da queste dichiarazioni, sembrerebbe votata ad essere sulla stile dell' antenata, il che la renderebbe decisamente diversa da 4C.

In terra Renault-Caterham il tutto e' molto nebuloso, per ora almeno su 4C si capisce che sara' in un certo senso assimilabile ad un giocattolo/terza macchina, roba improntata su questa filosofia...

The jointly developed Alpine and Caterham sports cars will look completely different when they are launched in 2015, according to Laurens van den Acker, head of design for Renault.Design work for both projects is said to be at an advanced stage, with Alpine boss Carlos Tavares and Caterham owner Tony Fernandes said to have approved designs that will push the £50,000Porsche Boxster rivals in different directions.

"This is not a project that will create two cars that look the same, like the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ," said van den Acker. "What we plan to create is two cars that will look completely different. People will not recognise them when they are parked together."

Renault marketing boss Steve Norman has previously told Autocar that the Alpine will have DNA that is "French and not German".

“It must be light and look different, and have a touch of French dash,” said Norman. “It’s not a car for dandies, though. We know who the buyer is: he’s either French or a Francophile. And the car has technical innovation as part of its DNA.”

The Alpine A110 will also play a key role in shaping the reborn brand's new car according to van den Acker. "It is the car that sparked the dream of rebuilding the brand," he said. "To not acknowledge that in my design would be to disappoint the dreams of these enthusiasts."

Speaking to Autocar, Tavares said the model will compete in the new 'sub-supercar' segment with the Alfa Romeo 4C. The executive also said the model will appeal to younger drivers and well-heeled enthusiasts.

The car's styling is 70 percent complete and incorporates a number of retro touches including an "arrowhead nose", side scoops and four round headlights. Despite the old school styling, designers are trying to keep the car modern by giving it dynamic proportions.

Speculation suggests the car could be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops approximately 280 bhp (209 kW). It could be connected to a six-speed manual transmission or a dual-clutch EDC automatic.

Little else is known about the model but it will reportedly ride on a spaceframe chassis that is constructed out of steel, aluminum and composites. This could enable the car to tip the scales at roughly 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs).

The Alpine A110 successor is expected to be launched in 2016 and cost approximately £50,000. Only a "few thousand" are slated to be built annually.
