[h=2]Fiat aiming to put Alfa Romeo back on the map[/h]In about a month from now, Fiat will reveal a technical cooperation between its Ferrari and Maserati subsidiaries to work on engines for Alfa Romeo models.

Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne declared yesterday Ferrari will be taking a more active role in engine development for Alfa Romeo, in a similar way to what they already did with Maserati. He added Alfa's biggest problem at the moment is providing "engines worth wearing the Alfa badge."

A spokesman from Fiat said to Automotive News Europe that Marchionne plans on launching sedan and wagon versions of the Giulia, along with a rear-wheel drive, two-seater roadster. The Giulias will arrive in Europe next year, while U.S. will get them in 2015. These will be manufactured in central Italy at the firm's Cassino factory. We already know the roadster will be built by Mazda in Hiroshima, Japan where they will also make the next-generation of the MX-5 from 2015.

As for the Alfa Romeo 4C, this is already considered as a model in the company's range, along with the existing MiTo and Giulietta models. The 4C is scheduled to go on sale before the end of the year in Europe and United States. 2,500 units will be made annually, with 1,000 cars going in Europe, another 1,000 programmed for the U.S., while the other 500 units will be available in other areas of the world.
