Auto Express is reporting the model have P1-inspired styling with LED-infused 'boomerang' headlights and a ventilated hood.

The car use will the same carbon fiber monocoque as the 12C and P1 but will have a shorter wheelbase to reduce weight and better reflect its position as the company's entry-level model. These changes should enable the car to tip the scales at less than 1,434 kg (3,161 lbs).

Power will likely be provided by a 3.8-liter V8 engine that develops approximately 450 bhp (335 kW). It will be connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which should enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than four seconds and hit a top speed of roughly 322 km/h (200 mph).

The McLaren P13 is expected to be introduced later next year, before going on sale in 2015 for an estimated price of £120,000 ($193,990 / €140,950).

McLaren has released preliminary details about its upcoming entry-level model codenamed P13.

The car is scheduled to go on sale in 2015 and will have a starting price of about 120,000 GBP (about 197,000 USD or 143,300 EUR). The attached sketch was done by McLaren's design chief Frank Stephenson and shows the P13 will borrow many styling cues from the P1 but in a smaller package. The vehicle will utilize the same carbon fiber MonoCell chassis as seen in the 12C and P1.

The McLaren P13 will be powered by a detuned version of the firm's V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo which will output 444 bhp (331 kW). McLaren Automotive European sales chief David Brimson describes the new model as "a true high-performance sports car with the same DNA as the 12C and P1."

It will most likely be revealed in September 2014 at the Paris Motor Show while sales are expected to commence in the spring of 2015. Production of the car will start around the same period when McLaren will finish building all 375 P1 units. Sometime around 2016 there will be a Spider version featuring a hard top.
