Exec says the model is important but not a priority

Hyundai's vice president of international sales has revealed the company is considering a pickup truck.

Speaking to Automotive News, Lee In-cheol said product planners are currently considering what size the pickup should be. However, In-cheol downplayed the model's importance by saying "We are doing a good job in recent years without a pickup truck." He also added, "A pickup truck is important, but it's not a big priority for our company."

There's no word on when a truck could be introduced, but Hyundai could delay the model until the so-called chicken tax, a 25 percent tariff on light-duty trucks and vans imported in the United States, expires in 2021 as part of the U.S.-South Korea free trade agreement.
