Neuron completes Italian flight trials - IHS Jane's 360

​The pan-European Neuron unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) technology demonstrator has completed its second phase of testing, Alenia Aermacchi announced on 25 August.Conducted in Sardinia, 12 sorties were flown to test the UCAV's "combat capability, its low radar-cross section and low infrared signature, during missions flown at different altitudes and flight profiles and against both ground-based and air radar 'threats'", Alenia stated.

The Italian testing follows the completion of aerodynamic and signature flight trials in France in February. The final phase will see the aircraft drop ordnance at the Vidsel Test Range in Sweden at the end of 2015.

Ecco, basta spargere in giro un po' di questi e non passano aerei, per me qualunque mezzo militare "pesante" sia aereo che navale o terrestre è destinato col tempo a sparire visto che sarà bersagliato da droni sempre più piccoli, autonomi e letali

alla fine la guerra diventerà un confronto tra piccoli robot ultratecnologici

A regime si' , ma oggi costano sempre molto di piu' delle loro controparti a guida umana. E non ne hanno l'efficienza ( almeno per ora ). Ne parliamo tra una ventina d'anni.

Like a team of silver-suited circus performers, they encircle the jet in a precise and choreographed dance and begin a series of electromagnetic attacks, jamming the radar and the communications. The jet's instruments begin to behave strangely. The pilot takes aim but there are too many of them. He's been swarmed. As quickly as they appear, the drones are gone, vanished into the underbelly of a low-flying bomber that's now climbing away. With his communications and targeting equipment fried, the pilot must return to base. He's been effectively neutralized and the culprits are nowhere to be seen.
