Ripeto: perchè complicarsi la vita andando a creare uno strano ibrido prodotto in Italia (e quindi invendibile localmente e da esportare in Nord America per 70-80% dei pezzi), quando c'è già il pianale pronto, la meccanica da fuoristrada rodata e un impianto dove si fanno già, su quel pianale, sia un 4x4 serio, sia un Crossover 7 posti?

A parte gli scherzi, magari lo facessero in Italia, più che altro per i posti di lavoro, però mi accodo a quanto dice il Rega... In Italia non ha senso, nè per volumi nè per tecnologia, nè per costi...

2018 Jeep Grand Wagoneer to target high-end SUVs, possibly even the Range Rover

Jeep recently confirmed plans to introduce a Grand Wagoneer in 2018 and new details are starting to emerge about the range-topping model.

In an interview with Motoring, Jeep CEO Mike Manley said the model will "very, very effectively compete with premium SUVs." That might sound overly optimistic but Manley pointed out theGrand Cherokee is Chrysler's most crossed-shop model with premium vehicles such as the BMW X5. The executive also suggested the Grand Wagoneer could be positioned as a Range Rover competitor.

Besides talking about the Grand Wagoneer, Manley hinted at the possibility of crossover coupes like the BMW X4 / X6. He stopped short of confirming a model was in the works but said it's "definitely" a possibility going forward.

A meno che, in prossimità dell'estate, le bufale non stiano cominciando a fare capolino, autonews riporta una possibile presentazione della Grand Wagooner ai rivenditori ad Agosto.

Fiat Chrysler has an idea for how to lure dealers to its biennial dealer show in Las Vegas this August: Promise them a peek at what will be Jeep's most expensive SUV ever, the revived Grand Wagoneer.The three-row off-roader is FCA's response to high-end SUVs such as the Range Rover. Jeep last made a Grand Wagoneer in 1991, when it had just two rows and wooden sides.

No word yet on whether the woody look will return in 2018 with the name, but FCA dealers will find out later this summer.

It will be the company's most expensive SUV and will adopt a three-row seating while its main rival will be the Range Rover.

This new report comes as a surprise taking into account the revived Grand Wagoneer is set to go on sale as a 2018 model year so it's still more than two years away and it is unlikely Jeep has finished work on its upcoming flagship model. Chances are the company will show some design sketches of the model that according to company's global director Michael Manley will "very, very effectively compete with premium SUVs."

Mike Manley (Jeep boss) revealed some of the details of the forthcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Manley confirmed in an interview that the Jeep Grand Wagoneer project is really moving forward. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer will initially arrive as a concept. Then it will move into the production stage initially. The vehicle is said to be the range topping model. It will bring an expensive price tag for the prospective buyers.

Manley did mention that there is no such thing as maximum ceiling price for Jeep model. He says if we look at the higher portion of the segment in the United States, for him the Jeep Grand Wagoneer has done well. It has the potential and can compete all through the segment. Mike Manley indicates a price tag of $130,000 to $140,000 for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The new Jeep might share its platform and several parts with the Maserati Levante model. This would make the vehicle costlier than models such as BMW X6M, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Range Rover Sport and many other models in this segment.

The Grand Wagoneer could come up with a range of new engine options. It could even offer a more luxurious interior. There is a possibility of the including Maserati’s turbocharged V8 unit of 3.8 liter or the V6 diesel unit of 3.0 liter. The Grand Cherokee SRT is currently the costliest vehicle in this lineup. The price for this vehicle is more than $65,000. It features a 475 hp V8 unit of 6.5 liter. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is expected to be seen sometime near the 2018 or 2019 MY.
