FCA Design announces an impromptu Ram truck sketch battle

FCA announced earlier today that company design heads Ralph Gilles and Mark Trostle are challenging the world to an interesting design contest. As an offshoot of the Drive for Design contest, which is focusing on Ram pickups this year, Gilles and Trostle are asking for anyone with design capabilities to see the “wickedest and most outrageous designs for a Ram truck”.

To promote this impromptu sketch battle, FCA’s design team shared this image of a modern Dodge Rampage. It has the new Ram headlights and grille, the front end and chassis of a Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and a short pickup bed. It is pretty wild, looking like something that our readers from Australia would love.

Let’s get creative! FCA design heads Ralph Gilles and Mark Trostle are challenging you to a sketch battle, taking over this week’s Drive for Design contest topic. They want to see your wickedest and most outrageous designs for a Ram truck. While Drive for Design is for high school students, this battle is for anyone, in any country! Do it by yourself or make it a family-fun activity.

Ralph and Mark will Instagram their favorites this Friday, April 10. Need some inspiration? We’ll go first. Meet RAMpage! Now, you go! Deadline to submit your sketch is Thursday, April 9 at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Si hanno notizie dei mostri in arrivo a marchio Didge, ci sono rumors di Challenger ACR, Charger Redeye, Durango Redeye (queste dovrebbero essere quesì certe ad uscire), ma si sente anche voce di Charger SRT Ghoul col motore Hellefant da 1000cv...

 

Anche su un possibile Gladiator Hercules col motore Hellcat.

What Is Under The Hood Of The Jeep® Wrangler 4xe?

According to our sources, the new Wrangler Unlimited 4xe model will utilize the 2.0-liter turbocharged (GME-T4) inline-four-cylinder with the eTorque system, instead of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 like many people thought from the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The system will be paired to a new ZF-sourced 8-speed plug-in hybrid automatic transmission, which is based on ZF’s current 8HP automatic transmission architecture that is a majority of the rear-drive FCA lineup.

The new 8-speed hybrid transmission doesn’t include the standard torque converter found on most transmissions but has an electric motor system instead. ZF states that the transmission can power a vehicle up to 31 miles (or 50 kilometers) or up to 74.5 mph (or 120 kph), depending on the size of the battery used in the vehicle. This could mean that the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe would meet a majority of owner’s daily driving needs without having to use gasoline. It also would put the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe in a similar electric performance territory as the other 4xe models.

We expect that the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with eTorque capability will act as a generator, similar to the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The use of the 2.0-liter turbo motor, also explains FCA’s recent announcement of a $400 million investment to repurpose an idled transmission plant in Kokomo, Indiana, to build the GME-T4 engine for the Wrangler and Cherokee.

Si sa qualcosa del futuro Cherokee? Visto che è un modello che ha subito un restyling (lo scorso anno?) può essere allocato temporalmente quello nuovo?

Per ora nulla, dovrebbe arrivare a fine anno la versione 2.0 T4 MHEV (globale) e la versione PHEV solo in Cina

In effetti Cherokee comincia ad essere anziana, però penso ci sia troppa carne al fuoco in casa Jeep tra Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, nuovo suv piccolo, Compass restyling e varianti del Wrangler per pensare anche a quello. Secondo me inizeranno a progettare una nuova Cherokee dopo aver presentato qualcuno di questi nuovi modelli.

Sarebbe un bene ritornare alla TP per il Cherokee.

 

Magari fare un vero D-SUV Cherokee TP su base Giorgio, e farne un altro più « familiare » tipo Commander o Compass 7 posti su base TA (che sia FCA o PSA).
