Da conferma ufficiale, la RCZ raggiungerà la seconda generazione e non farà quindi parte di quella ventina di auto che verranno eliminate nella ristrutturazione di PSA:

Peugeot boss Maxime Picat has announced the RCZ will receive a second generation.Good news for fans of the French stylish coupe as the RCZ will not be axed according to Peugeot's chief Maxime Picat. The future of the model was in doubt after PSA announced back in April plans to reduce its lineup from 45 to 26 models by 2020. The RCZ will not be a victim of this decision as the company believes it's an important model in the lineup.

Taking into account the RCZ was facelifted in September 2012, the second generation will likely arrive sometime next year or 2016 and will use the EMP2 platform from the all-new 308so expect a considerable weight loss.

We remind you that according to PSA's "back in the race" strategy, Citroën is expected to move down market while Peugeot will become a more premium brand in order to better differentiate the two. Depending on the plan's success, PSA could consider a U.S. comebackbut it's still at least three to four years away.

Il capo di Peugeot, Maxime Picat, ha annunciato da poco che la sportiva due porte RCZ avrà diritto ad una seconda generazione.

Intanto cominciano a girare in rete le prime immagini della seconda generazione ..,che adotterà il pianale EMP2 ripreso dalla nuova compatta 308: questo vuol dire una perdita di peso considerevole, i nuovi interni i Cockpit, per quanto riguarda i motori ci saranno i nuovi THP.

C’è inoltre da aggiungere che secondo la strategia “Back in the Race” del gruppo PSA, Citroën dovrebbe diventare un marchio più abbordabile mentre Peugeot si focalizzerà sui prodotti premium al fine di creare una netta distinzione tra i due brand francesi. Discorso a sé quello del marchio DS che ormai viaggia da solo. A seconda di quale sarà il successo di questo piano, PSA potrebbe anche pensare ad un ritorno negli Stati Uniti, ma si parla di progetti che non vedranno la luce del giorno prima di almeno 3-4 anni..

RCZ non avrà eredi, è ufficiale:

Peugeot boss Maxime Picat has confirmed the Peugeot RCZ will not be replaced, which also spells the end for the performanceRCZ R version.The coupe will be a casualty of Peugeot’s model cull, which will reduce the number of vehicles it produces from 26 to 13 by 2022. Other vehicles set to be killed off have not been confirmed, but all are expected to be niche sellers.

“If I tell you that the 13 most important silhouettes that we sell account for 95% of all our sales and more than 100% of all our profits you will understand why this is necessary,” said Picat at the Shanghai motor show. Peugeot made multi-billion pound losses in 2012 and 2013, prior to instigating a streamlining programme that brought it back in to profit last year.

“I love the RCZ, but I want us to focus on making the best of our core models, from Peugeot 108 upwards, and to exploit what we then have to the best of our abilities. For each of those cars we can choose attributes and be the best. Chasing niches is for premium brands; for us it has been a distraction.”

Picat also revealed that the firm is evaluating the possibility of adding a large, D-segment SUV to its line-up before the end of the decade, but stressed that no decisions had been made. “It is something we are definitely looking in to,” he said.

Da appassionato mi dispiace, il pianale della 308 sembra essere molto valido, poteva venir fuori una bella coupe'.

Anche l'attuale mi piaceva, quando fu presentata e stavo per comprare l'auto nuova sono andato a vederla, ma la 160 cv benzina mi veniva sui 28 mila e non volevano scontarla, e io non potevo andare sopra i 24.

Come dicevo qualche giorno fa nel topic relativo, per questa categoria non c'e' mercato ne' spazio.

Va a fare compagnia alla Scirocco. Peccato

Mai piaciuta l'implementazione ma spero che l'idea alla sua base venga usata per fare una DS, che senza una sportiva IMHO è difficile definirsi un marchio "premium".

Sinceramente oggi fanno piu' premium i suv e date le condizioni avrei deciso lo stesso: fare bene una sportiva ed investirci dei soldoni per venderne 10000 l'anno e' ormai assurdo.

Un bel suv lo vendi bene sia in Europa che in Cina a prezzi non stracciati e con qualche margine. E' il mercato odierno.

Peccato, la dura legge della sopravvivenza.

A me non piace pero' si e' sempre affermati bene in tantissimi test. Sull'ultimo número di EVO UK in un confronto con svariate coupe' ha portato a casa un onorevolissimo 4.5/5, lasciando indietro 4C a 3/5 e TTS a 4/5.
