Ferrari 430 Modena (?)

Secondo AutoWeek, Ferrari sta lavorando su una nuova versione della Modena, la 430 che verrà dotata di un V8 derivato dal 4.2 in uso sulle Maserati ma portato a 4.3 litri con una potenza di 480cv.

Ferrari is road testing a heavily reworked version of the 360 Modena, dubbed the 430 Modena.

Likely to appear for the first time at next year’s Geneva motor show, the two-seater will forego the 3.6-liter V8 used in the existing car for an engine derived from the 4.2-liter V8 used in the Maserati Coupe/Spyder and Quattroporte.

AutoWeek sources say the new powerplant’s capacity of about 4.3 liters will produce 480 hp, up from the 360’s 400 hp, and much closer to the 500-hp 5.0-liter V10 in competitor Lamborghini’s Gallardo. Changes to the Maserati engine include a flat crank, lighter internals and a revised air inlet manifold—all aimed at allowing it to rev close to 9000 rpm.

Ormai manca quasi un anno per il debutto della nuova 360 quindi qualche indiscrezione potrebbe essere passata. Se i dati sono veritieri (la potenza è quella che Taurus indicava) la cosa più interessante di questo motore è la possibilità di arrivare in prossimità dei 9000giri/min 8) chissà che sound

Il 4.2 V8 deriva a sua volta dal 3.6 V8 della Modena, che a sua volta deriva da quella della 355.

La prossima generazione di motori ferrari saranno derivazioni dal motore della Enzo, più nuovo e più leggero.

Quindi dubito fortemente che andranno a derivare un motore ferrari da uno Maserati.

Inoltre a quanto ricordo si parlava di un 4.0, non di un 4.3...

Persino una rivista da 4 soldi come quattroruote aveva detto che tutti i futuri V ferrari sarebbe derivati dal V12 Enzo

Prima un anno per la erede della 360 mi pare poco direi un anno e mezzo per la coupe' ed almeno 2 per la Spider....prima di essa vedremo l'erede della 575m Maranello con un V12 di 6.0lt da 630cv....che avra' in seguito anche una derivata Barchetta per competere con Murcielago Roadster.....

L'erede della 360 Modena usa un V8 di 4lt da 470-480cv mentre ci sara' di sicuro in un secondo momento anche una versione C.S. come nella 360 da 500-520cv.

Infine non e' un pesante restyling(come si puo' considerare per esempio la 355 rispetto alla 348..)....la monoscocca in alluminio rinforzata con fibre di carbonio in alcune versioni e' comune anche se pesantemente modificata ma la carrozzeria e' completamente diversa e non usera' il nome Modena dal momento che si tratta di nuovo modello...

Ferrari's new mid-engined "mainstream" sports car is expected to debut in 2005. Reliable information on the technical specifications of the newcomer is still scarce, but it is believed that it will be powered by a 4.2-liter V-8 engine, not a V-10. Hence, it is dubbed the "420 Modena" or "420 Fiorano."

The development of the 360 replacement has been infinitely more troublesome than could be to the company's liking. The appearance of the Lamborghini Gallardo sent top Ferrari management and engineers alike back to the drawing boards, and the 360 replacement program in Maranello ground to a halt. Not long after work had started again on the project, a fire devastated offices and workshops in Ferrari's development department in March 2004, damaging a number of invaluable prototype vehicles.

The spy shots show a few exclusive details of the new vehicle, including flared front wheel arches and improved rear wheelhouses, which leave more room for larger wheels and an increased track width at the front and rear axles. The lateral air outlets in the front bumper have been enlarged to supply more air to the new 4.2-liter engine. At the rear, the prototype features a new bumper with smaller, dedicated openings around the exhaust pipes and a modified diffuser.

Initially planned as a mostly technical freshening, the 360 Modena replacement project now seems to have become no less than a new vehicle, which also could include the introduction of a new Spider with a folding hard top in 2006.

Si nella foto c'e un nulo su base 360 Challenge Stradale si vede il passo leggermente allungato rispetto alla vettura attuale....tutto coretto salvo il motore che sara' un 4.0V8 e non un 4.2V8.....

Dimenticavo dire che la 400 Spider di 2006 avra' una capote retractable con soluzione simile a quella vista nella Fioravanti Vola
