I got invited by Motor Trend to bring my Giulia Super to Thunderhill for a spectrum of Alfa sedans for a shoot they're doing on the new Giulia Quads. Spent all day yesterday at the track, red and blue cars, the red one has carbon brakes and seats. No TI versions present.

Had my green Super, a local red Milano Verde, a blue M3 Competition Package for the comparison and videos. Really great day, got a bunch of laps with Randy Pobst driving the red Giulia on the track, then he also drove my Super to get it sideways for the camera, not easy with its limited power. Luckily, has old tires! I drove the red car, not fast, just motored around, also got to drive the blue M3. Awesome cars, especially compared to my 50-year-old Super, which is my daily driver.

They say these are going on sale next month in the US. These were both US-certified cars, I have a picture of the data plate, which I will post later. I am an old-Alfa guy, not new-Alfa, so I'm not real up on these. But dang was it a great experience.
 

The Giulia sedan was a compact, at least by American standards. In Italy at the time, it would have been a largish family sedan, compared to most Fiats and other cheap sedans. The Milano was a performance sedan, but still a family car. The new Giulia, I'm not sure how they're marketing it, I guess a luxury/performance car, at least in the Quad guise. 500HP is a lot of power; 0-60 in like 3.9 seconds. To me that's supercar range; I guess there are supercar sedans (M5, this M3, some Maseratis, some Cadillacs). The TI version ought to be a lot more sedate, but still faster than any Alfa sedan before.

My Super weighs about 2200 lbs. The new Giulia is close to 3900, according to the MT guys; I don't know if that's loaded or light. Still somewhere between 50-100% heavier. The power more than makes up for it, as does all the tech, but I like what I have.
 

When Jason first called me, he thought I had a red Super to go with red Quad and red Verde. I think that would have been the art director's preference. But alas, mine is green. They concentrated on the red Quad, didn't like the photo combo I guess of blue/green/red cars for the shoot. So most of what'll show up in the videos is I think the red car. There is a pic above of thecarbon brakes, but I can't recall which car it and the carbon seats were on.

IMHO passerà almeno un mese e mezzo prima vederla su YT, solitamente escono dopo 30 giorni di esclusiva sulla piattaforma on-demand.

Nei commenti chiedevano lumi sullo sketch in alto a dx, ha risposto direttamente Busse. Domandare non costa nulla...

Le rivali dirette di Giulia Quadrifoglio per prezzo etc. sono le M3 e C 63 AMG berlina standard(non la M3/M4 Competition Package oppure la C63 S AMG)

M4 GTS non c'entra proprio nulla, e' una vettura biposto track focused tipo 911 GT3 RS che costa il doppio...tra l'altro anche 911 GT3 RS ha sui 500cv, dovremo confrontare pure quella con Giulia Quadrifoglio?   

 

 

Ecco, proprio questo pensavo..la superiorità schiacciante di Giulia QV viene per me testimoniata dal fatto che da una parte la si confronta con una versione biposto praticamente pronto pista prodotta in pochi esemplari ad un prezzo che è una volta e mezzo quelli di Giulia,  dall altro si mette sullo stesso piano un' auto che associa equilibrio dinamico, performance e facilità di guida sconosciute alle concorrente al sound ed alla schiena si un 8v cacciato dentro ad un auto con performance dinamiche sensibilmente inferiori...secondo voi delle tre auto quale e' la più difficile da realizzare ?
