INTRODUCTION

The all-new Toyota Corolla Cross brings C-segment SUV space, practicality, and a strong and solid design to the world’s best-selling model range for the first time.

Not only does the new SUV complete the family of Corolla derivatives -sitting alongside the hatchback, Touring Sports and sedan, but it also completes Toyota’s SUV line-up, which now offers customers the widest range in the European market.

Based on Toyota’s TNGA philosophy, the Corolla Cross features the latest GA-C platform developments, which bring benefits to the vehicle’s styling, packaging, technology and driving dynamics.

DESIGN & PACKAGING

The new Toyota SUV’s powerful, robust styling has been specifically tailored to the European market, with a unique combination of headlamp and rear lamp cluster complimenting the double-trapezoid front grille, flared 3-dimensional fenders and tapered cabin of an urban-tough SUV.

The Corolla Cross is 4460mm long, 1825mm wide, 1620mm high and has a wheelbase of 2640mm. It sits between the Toyota C-HR and the RAV4 at the heart of the highly competitive European C-SUV segment, offering the comfort, practicality and versatility essential to active families with young children.

The interior offers outstanding visibility for all occupants, ample front and rear seat head- and legroom, large rear door openings, an increase in light and the feeling of spaciousness provided by a panoramic sunroof. The loadspace combines an easy-access low lip height with wide door opening which makes it convenient for the loading of large objects like a prams or bicycles.

NEW 5th GENERATION HYBRID SYSTEM

The Corolla Cross is the first Toyota model globally to benefit from the new fifth-generation hybrid system.

Toyota’s 5th generation, self-charging, full hybrid FWD (front-) or AWD-i (intelligent-all-wheel drive) powertrain builds on its predecessor with more torque, more electrical power, greater efficiency and increased driving pleasure.

The transaxle has been re-engineered along with new lubrication and oil distribution systems that use low-viscosity oil. This contributes to efficiency and power improvements thanks to reduced electrical and mechanical losses.

Featuring the latest developments in Li-ion batteries, the new battery pack system is more powerful and 40% lighter than before.

Both motor and engine output have improved, resulting in a total system output increase of more than 8%.

The FWD 2.0 litre hybrid powertrain generates 146kW/197hp, delivering 0-100km/h acceleration in 8.1 seconds.

The AWD-i variant features an additional, powerful electric motor on the rear axle which develops and impressive 30,6 kW.

The rear motor automatically engages to give greater traction, driving confidence and peace of mind in low-grip conditions.

Thus equipped, the AWD-i Corolla Cross shares the FWD version’s acceleration performance.

The 5th generation hybrid system’s drivability has also been further improved. The system is now even more linear, predictable and controllable under acceleration, with vehicle speed more closely matching engine revolutions to provide a more intuitive and natural driving experience.

This was achieved by recalibrating the relationship between the driver’s accelerator pedal input and the actual response from the powertrain.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES

Numerous advanced technologies equip the all-new Corolla Cross. It benefits from an upgraded HMI (Human Machine Interface) with the latest multimedia technology, and the European-specific dashboard layout features both an all-new, multi-configuration, 12.3-inch driver’s digital cockpit and a 10.5-inch central multimedia display

The 12.3-inch digital cockpit features all-new hardware and software. The largest in the segment, it offers maximum space for content, wide flexibility, and customisation and personalisation options such as fuel consumption, hybrid system operation and navigation.

With a new faster processor, the latest High Definition, 10.5-inch touchscreen Multimedia infotainment system features wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto connectivity, and a Toyota Smart Connect package.

Customers can now experience the convenience of Cloud navigation, road events, a voice agent and over-the-air updates. Moreover, a suite of connected services from MyT App include driving analytics, car location, and even remote-control features such as climate schedule and door locking.

SAFETY

Finally, the all-new Corolla Cross is equipped with T-Mate, which combines the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense package with other active driving and parking assistance systems to not only make driving easier and safer, but also to protect all vehicle occupants as well as other road users in various scenarios.

For the first time, the Pre-Collision System offers Acceleration Suppression at low speed and Intersection Cut-In Traffic Assist, as well as improved Oncoming Traffic detection and Intersection Turn Assist.

Other new Toyota Safety Sense functions include an Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS), and Over The Air (OTA) updates which keep the functions up-to-date and add new ones during the vehicle’s life. In addition, improvements have been made to the Full Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control (FSR ACC), and both the Lane Trace Assist (LTA) and Road Sign Assist (RSA) systems.

T-Mate offers driving assistance through a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Safety Exit Assist (SEA), an Auto High Beam System (AHB), parking assistance with Toyota Teammate Advanced Park, a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Automatic Braking (RCTAB) and Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS).

Adding even higher levels of passive safety to the new Corolla Cross’s high rigidity GA-C platform, a new front centre airbag is designed to prevent front seat occupants from making contact with each other in the event of a side-on collision.

Since its introduction in 1966, more than 50 million Corollas have been sold around the world. The new Corolla Cross will further strengthen Toyota’s presence in the C-segment and support the company’s ambition goal of 400,000 sales -equating to a 9% market share of Europe’s most competitive automotive category- by 2025.

With the practicality of a spacious SUV and the dynamism of the most advanced hybrid technology, connectivity and safety systems, the all-new Corolla-Cross helps modern family to enjoy their daily challenges.

Customer deliveries will commence in Autumn 2022, depending on markets.

All-New Compact SUV with Available AWD a Welcome Addition to the Corolla Family

PLANO, Texas (June 2, 2021) – For more than 50 years, Corolla has been synonymous with dependability, fuel efficiency, safety and value – and today, Toyota is evolving the series even further. Based on the ever-popular Corolla sedan, the all-new 2022 Corolla Cross, which made its U.S. debut today, is the bold compact crossover you didn’t know you needed until now.

“Our loyal customers love the quality, durability and reliability that has helped make Corolla the best-selling nameplate in history,” said Lisa Materazzo, group vice president of Toyota Marketing.  “With the all-new Corolla Cross we are building upon that foundation and offering more versatility and fun to adapt to their evolving lifestyles.”

Available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), the compact SUV maximizes the inherent potential of the high-strength TNGA-C platform and a 169-horsepower, 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine, enabling the all-new model to achieve high-quality performance, a comfortable ride and outstanding spaciousness. What’s more, the surprising cargo capacity gives it the versatility to accommodate life’s adventures.

Well-Appointed, Yet Powerful

Spread across three grades – L, LE, and XLE – the versatile design of the Corolla Cross is spacious, modern, powerful and high-quality. From an engineering perspective, the 2022 Corolla Cross offers an approachable exterior as well as a higher line-of-sight thanks to the TNGA-C platform. Key design cues include a distinctive black grille flanked by LED lighting with black body accents – giving the entry SUV a confident stance. And from the rear, the design elements continue, with an integrated rear spoiler and LED lighting. Wheel options range from 17-inch steel on L to 18-inch alloy on XLE.

Inside, Corolla Cross’ spacious interior shares many similarities with its sedan and hatchback siblings. The all-new model can be outfitted with a power moonroof, as well as either single- or dual-zone automatic climate control, with all grades featuring standard heating and air conditioning vents for rear seat passengers.

SofTex-trimmed seating is also available, as is a 10-way, power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar and heated front seats.

In back, storage space can be maxed out thanks to the 60/40-split folding rear seats that come standard on all grades, while XLE models also include a center armrest with two cupholders. And to make access to the roomy cargo area even more convenient, the Corolla Cross has an available power liftgate with height adjustability.

Corolla Cross will also be available with accessories that expand its capability including a roof rack with crossbars, an activity mount for carrying items, such as bicycles and all-weather floormats.

Small But Mighty

Who says a crossover has to feel small? The Corolla Cross is equipped with the mighty 2.0L Dynamic Force engine and Direct Shift CVT from Corolla sedan’s sportier “S” grades. That means a punchy 169 horsepower and a physical first gear that provides a truly engaging driving experience, all while providing exceptional efficiency.

Corolla Cross’ suspension also plays a role here, as it’s fully independent for all-wheel-drive models, while front-wheel-drive vehicles feature a brand-new torsion beam system in the rear.

Additionally, every Corolla Cross is capable of towing up to 1,500 lbs.

And for those who choose AWD, Toyota’s clever Dynamic Torque Control system can direct up to 50% of power to the rear wheels when it’s needed – and disengages completely when it’s not. This feature helps Corolla Cross maintain great fuel economy estimates – another strong suit for this powertrain – with an estimated 32 combined MPG for the FWD model and an estimated 30 combined MPG for the AWD model.

Connected and Charged Up for the Long Drive

Inside Corolla Cross, advanced technology does not disappoint. This includes an available 7-inch Multi-Information Display with a digital instrumentation layout and an available 8-inch multimedia touchscreen. The ease of use and vast range of in-car entertainment and connected functionalities, including standard compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, will be sure to keep passengers occupied. Mobile devices will stay topped off through wireless charging (standard on LE and XLE), or through the conveniently located USB media port. LE and XLE grades offer two USB charging ports for rear seat passengers, welcoming all devices along for the drive.

The available Audio Plus multimedia with Remote Connect and a nine-speaker JBL® sound system is the perfect complement to a road trip playlist. And when it’s time to turn on the tunes, Amazon Alexa connectivity keeps Amazon’s digital assistant just a question away. Other connected features include a standard three-month SiriusXM All Access trial subscription to more than 300 channels accessible throughout the country.

Safety

True to Toyota form, modern safety is key for Corolla Cross. That’s why all grades come standard with both the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced active safety systems, as well as Toyota’s signature STAR Safety System.

Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert come standard on LE and XLE, while Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking is standard on XLE. And nine airbags are mounted throughout the cabin to help protect occupants.

From an engineering perspective, it offers an approachable exterior as well as a higher line-of-sight thanks to the revised TNGA-C platform. For the Sport grades, the Corolla Cross Hybrid offers eye-catching details that set it apart from its gas sibling, such as unique front and rear styling. Now Standard for Corolla Cross – Newest Toyota Multimedia System

Standard across all Corolla Cross grades for 2023 is the new Toyota Multimedia System, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and added USB-C charge ports to keep all your devices ready for action.

Thanks to the Toyota Audio Multimedia system designed and engineered by Toyota’s Texas-based Connected Technologies team, Corolla Cross drivers will be at the ready thanks to a wide range of enhanced connectivity and convenience features, including being Over-the-Air (OTA) updatable. Users can interact with the system through intuitive touch and voice activation controls. With the available Connected Service Drive Connect trial or subscription, drivers and passengers have access to Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation and Destination Assist. With Intelligent Assistant, simple phrases like “Hey Toyota” awaken the system for voice activated commands to search for directions, find Points of Interest (POI), adjust audio controls, change the cabin temperatures and more. Cloud Navigation, the available onboard navigation solution, utilizes the cloud to download the latest available map, traffic and routing information. To ensure users have the most up-to-date search capabilities, POI search is provided by Google Points-of-Interest data. Destination Assist also gives access to 24/7 live agent assistance to locate the next destination.

The new Toyota Audio Multimedia allows for dual Bluetooth® phone connectivity, with support for standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. With further connectivity, the Corolla Cross has an available Wi-Fi Connect subscription that offers 4G connectivity for up to five devices – turning the Corolla Cross into an AT&T Hotspot. Adding to the already robust offering of audio playback ability with HD Radio®, USB data and a SiriusXM® Platinum Plan 3-month trial subscription, Wi-Fi Connect trial or subscription also enables the new Integrated Streaming feature, providing customers the ability to link their separate Apple Music® and Amazon Music subscriptions to the vehicle for onboard control.

Standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0

In addition to collision protection provided by the TNGA-C platform, all 2023 Corolla Cross models comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, Toyota’s suite of active safety systems, which includes enhancements made possible by system sensors with improved detection capability. The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection is also capable of detecting motorcyclists in certain conditions. When making a turn or approaching an intersection, the system is designed to detect forward or laterally approaching oncoming vehicles and provides audio/visual alerts and automatic braking in certain conditions. Improved lane recognition delivers refined performance of Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Lane Tracing Assist.

Corolla Cross will be equipped with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist is designed to notify the driver via audible and visual alerts and slight steering force if it senses the vehicle is leaving the lane without engaging a turn signal. When DRCC is set and engaged, Lane Tracing Assist uses visible lane markers or a preceding vehicle to help keep the vehicle centered in its lane.

Automatic High Beams are designed to detect preceding or oncoming vehicles and automatically switch between high beam and low beam headlights. Road Sign Assist is designed to recognize certain road sign information using a forward-facing camera and display them on the multi-information display (MID).

Toyota’s Rear Seat Reminder comes standard on all grades. The feature can note whether a rear door was opened within 10 minutes of the vehicle being turned on, or at any time after the vehicle has been turned on, with a reminder message in the instrument cluster after the engine is turned off, accompanied by multitone chimes.

In addition to the TSS 3.0 system, other standard safety features include Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), which is designed to help detect and warn you of vehicles approaching or positioned in the adjacent lanes and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) for added peace of mind by helping to detect vehicles approaching from either side while backing out and alerting you with a visual and audible warning. Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) also comes standard.

Limited Warranty

Toyota’s 36-month/36,000 mile basic new-vehicle warranty applies to all components other than normal wear and maintenance items. Additional 60-month warranties cover the powertrain for 60,000 miles and against perforation from corrosion for 60 months with no mileage limitation. Hybrid-related components that require repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first from original date of first use when sold as new. The hybrid battery is covered for 10 years/150,000 miles, whichever comes first, and is transferable across ownership.

The 2023 Corolla Cross also comes with ToyotaCare, a plan covering normal factory-scheduled maintenance, for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first, and 2 years of Roadside Assistance, unlimited mileage.
