ŠKODA releases exterior design sketches of the new FABIA

Mladá Boleslav, 22 April 2021 – ŠKODA AUTO is building anticipation for the upcoming 
fourth generation of the FABIA by releasing the first official design sketches. The popular
small car from the Czech car manufacturer will be significantly larger, more dynamic and 
more expressive than its successful predecessors. Switching over to the 
Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Toolkit MQB-A0 has made the new proportions 
possible and created even more space for passengers and luggage. Additional highlights 
include the sharply drawn front headlights and rear lights featuring LED technology. The 
world premiere of the new ŠKODA FABIA will take place this May.
Two of the design sketches show the clear, modern and dynamically drawn lines of the new 
ŠKODA FABIA. The fourth generation will be 111 millimetres longer and 48 millimetres wider than 
its predecessor. This is the first time the new FABIA will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s 
Modular Transverse Toolkit MQB-A0. In addition to even more space for passengers, this also adds 
an extra 50 litres to the boot. The diagonal front view offers a first glimpse of the flat front headlights 
and the wide ŠKODA grille, which has a sporty, elegant look with a chrome frame and black ribs. 
Large wheels also enhance the powerful appearance. 
The elongated roof spoiler with side finlets ensure excellent aerodynamics along with the 
aerodynamically optimised exterior mirrors and actively adjustable cooling shutters in the front 
bumper’s lower air inlet.
The other sketches give a more detailed impression of the new ŠKODA FABIA’s modern light units. 
The modules resemble blocks of ice in the sharply cut full-LED front headlights, which extend up to 
the ŠKODA grille. An L-shaped daytime running light module can be seen, as well. ŠKODA’s 
signature crystalline elements can also be found in the graphics of the distinctly flat rear lights that 
will be available in a full-LED version.
Even with the first generation, which was also presented as an estate in 2000, 1.79 million units 
were produced in approximately eight years, while the second generation unveiled at the Geneva 
Motor Show in 2007 found a total of 1,704,000 buyers. The third generation launched in 2014 
continued the success story and became ŠKODA’s second most popular model after the OCTAVIA, 
for example in 2019. The Czech manufacturer’s total production volume of more than 4.7 million 
FABIAs to date is surpassed only by the OCTAVIA.

Pare molto interessante, essendo sui 4,10m di lunghezza va a coprire parte della fascia di mercato di Scala ed anche della cugina T-Cross (anche se è una crossover). Comunque Fabia nella gamma Škoda e sempre stata la più grande della categoria.

 

A livello estetico e di proporzioni, per quello che si può intuire anche se camuffata, devo dire che sembra essere venuta fuori bene, inoltre molto interessante il risultato raggiunto in tema di cx. 

Chissà se la faranno anche con motore TGI, non mi pare che sia stato menzionato nel comunicato ufficiale collegato a queste prime immagini

 

Potrei tenerla seriamente in considerazione quando verrà il tempo di cambiare la mia Fabia. 

Anche a me viene voglia di nuova Fabia.
Sono ancora possessore di una Fabia 1.4 D (3 cilindri) del 2009.
Per alcuni anni, è stata la mia unica auto (attualmente è la seconda), e di strada ne ha macinata. Oggi ha 251.000 Km...  va come il primo giorno e non ha nessuna intenzione di andare in pensione (l'ho sempre curata comunque, ogni 15000 KM, servizio completo).
Non so se sono stato fortunato o se tutte le auto del gruppo VW con questo motore e caratteristiche tecniche abbiano avuto la stessa sorte della mia. Di fatto, devo dire che sono davvero molto molto contento di questa auto.

Le bocchette tonde proprio non le vedo su una Skoda.
Quel poco che si vede mi sembra un mix dei prodotti Vag. Al momento non riesco a dare un giudizio.

Le bocchette tonde non riesco a capire che quale problema possano rappresentare su una segmento B, oltretutto venduta (presumo) con un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.

 

Preferisco risparmino su quello piuttosto che su altro.

La plancia è ancora tutta ben camuffata, infatti se si guarda bene la zona davanti al passeggero è coperta dalla camuffatura che la fa assomigliare alla Polo quindi non mi stupirei se anche le bocchette fossero posticce. 

In ogni caso si sa già a grandi linee come sarà la plancia, basta guardare Kamiq, la struttura sarà quella con minime modifiche.

Ma pure questa la faranno in Spagna come le altre B VW? O in Repubblica Ceca come Kamiq? Nel primo caso credo che cercheranno di condividere quante più cose possibili con Polo e Ibiza, nel secondo invece potrebbe esserci qualche possibilità di vedere qualcosa di diverso come design e dotazione/motori (penso al 1.0 eTSI anche se ci spero poco).

Veramente Kamiq ha una plancia di derivazione Scala...dubito adottino la medesima per Fabia (felice di sbagliarmi se il risultato sarà diverso da quello intuibile sopra)
