Mladá Boleslav, 2 February 2022 – ŠKODA AUTO has released several official design sketches, offering a first glimpse of the new FABIA MONTE CARLO. The sporty lifestyle variant made its debut eleven years ago in the second-generation FABIA. The signature black MONTE CARLO elements show off the fourth-generation FABIA’s considerably more emotive lines and dynamic proportions. Carbon-style elements and red decorative trim strips provide accents in the sporty interior.

 

The exterior sketch of the new ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO shows how the signature details of this model version enhance the emotive design and dynamic appearance of the new FABIA. The frame of the ŠKODA grille features the same black finish as the spoiler lip on the exclusive front apron, which is characterised by a large air intake. The diffuser in the sporty rear apron and the lettering on the tailgate are also finished in black, as are the exterior mirror caps, the window frames, the side skirts and the rear spoiler; the wings feature MONTE CARLO badges.

The interior is predominantly black. The height-adjustable sports seats benefit from integrated headrests, while the 3-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel bears the MONTE CARLO badge. The leather trims for the steering wheel rim as well as the handbrake and gear stick feature black stitching. Stylish red accents appear on the seat covers and the horizontal dashboard trim, on the centre console and on the bold door handles. Carbon-style elements accentuate the armrests of the front doors and the lower part of the instrument panel.

Sporty ŠKODA lifestyle models have carried the MONTE CARLO designation since 2011. Their black body elements, sporty interior design and extended standard equipment recall ŠKODA’s successes at the legendary Monte Carlo Rally. ŠKODA introduced this equipment variant eleven years ago for the second-generation FABIA. Later, a MONTE CARLO version would also be produced for its successor as well as the CITIGO, the YETI and the RAPID SPACEBACK. ŠKODA currently offers the SCALA MONTE CARLO and the KAMIQ MONTE CARLO and will soon be expanding the line-up to include the new fourth-generation FABIA.

Monte Carlo è solo un allestimento quindi sarà proposto con i motori attualmente a listino al massimo limitato al TSI.

 

L'1.5 al massimo me lo aspetterei per una eventuale versione mild-hybrid magari "depotenziato" rispetto a quello montato per le VAG di segmento superiore.

Mladá Boleslav, 8 February 2022 – The new ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO will be making its debut on 15 February. This is the third model in the Czech car manufacturer’s current range of sporty lifestyle variants with the MONTE CARLO designation: Like the SCALA and the KAMIQ, the new FABIA in this equipment variant again focuses on the signature dynamic appearance with which ŠKODA AUTO commemorates its numerous motorsport successes at the Monte Carlo Rally. The new vehicle is the third MONTE CARLO variant in the history of ŠKODA’s entry-level model.

 

Monte Carlo – the name honours ŠKODA’s numerous motor racing successes at the legendary rally in the Principality of Monaco. Recently, the FABIA Rally2 evo achieved its fourth victory there for ŠKODA in the past six years in the WRC2 category, and the brand’s 15^th class victory overall. Since 2011, ŠKODA has commemorated these successes with sporty lifestyle versions of various compact model series – a tradition now continued by the new ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO. Debuting on 15 February, the new top-of-the-range FABIA model will be joining the Active, Ambition and Style trim levels.

ŠKODA’s MONTE CARLO DNA
Born on the racetrack, built for the road – it’s in the DNA of ŠKODA’s MONTE CARLO models: sporty lifestyle versions of various ŠKODA compact model series share this designation that the Czech car manufacturer introduced 86 years ago. To celebrate the ŠKODA POPULAR’s second place in the class up to 1,500 cm³ at the 1936 Monte Carlo Rally, the company released a limited-edition series of 70 ŠKODA POPULAR MONTE CARLO vehicles at the time. The first double victory at the Monte Carlo Rally came in 1977 with the legendary ŠKODA 130 RS in the class up to 1,300 cm³. In the 1990s, the FAVORIT and the FELICIA also achieved double victories before the ŠKODA FABIA’s outstanding rally career began. Several podium finishes were followed by the ŠKODA FABIA SUPER 2000’s class victory at the 2013 Monte Carlo Rally. Its successor, the FABIA R5 (Rally2), won the WRC2 category in Monte Carlo in 2017 and 2018. The updated ŠKODA FABIA Rally2 evo repeated this double success in 2021 and 2022.

The new ŠKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO is the third production version of this model series to bear the sporty designation. In 2011, ŠKODA introduced this variant for compact series models with the second-generation FABIA, before the third FABIA generation followed suit in 2014. The fourth-generation ŠKODA FABIA is the third model to join the Czech manufacturer’s portfolio of sporty MONTE CARLO lifestyle variants, alongside the ŠKODA SCALA and ŠKODA KAMIQ.

THE NEW FABIA MONTE CARLO: CONTINUING THE TRADITION

Great news for fans of ŠKODA’s sporting tradition. The latest generation of the FABIA is now available in the dynamic MONTE CARLO design, just like previous generations were.

 

In the fourth generation of the FABIA range, the spiced-up and sporty FABIA MONTE CARLO will once again appeal to motorsport enthusiasts. The car is perfect for drivers who want to enjoy being out on the roads at the wheel of a car that’s a bit special. At the same time, the new FABIA MONTE CARLO provides the occupants with all the comfort, convenience and tech of the latest version of the popular hatchback.

The MONTE CARLO designation first appeared on a ŠKODA in 1936: the magnificent ŠKODA POPULAR MONTE CARLO roadster, which capitalised on the Czech carmaker’s head-turning performance in the famous long-distance rally. In modern history, the tradition of models with a sporting spirit was revived in 2011 with the FABIA MONTE CARLO. From the outset, this tradition has referenced the brand’s motorsports success, offering sporty looks combined with excellent features and equipment.

 

Unmistakable 

The FABIA MONTE CARLO has traditionally appealed mainly to sport and active lifestyle enthusiasts. Again in the latest version, black elements and details, including the radiator grille, the exterior mirror caps, the spoiler edge in the redesigned front bumper, the decorative trims on the side sills and the rear diffuser, give the car striking looks. The car comes with exclusive 16-inch Proxima alloy wheels, or optional 17-inch Procyon alloy wheels with aerodynamic inserts in black and 18-inch Libra wheels.

Details such as the MONTE CARLO plaque and badge on the steering wheel, tinted rear and side windows and the option of ordering a black painted roof complete the overall impression. All of these aspects accent the fourth-generation FABIA’s dynamic lines.

 

“This latest MONTE CARLO variant brings the significantly more emotive design of the new, fourth-generation FABIA sharply into focus. The body is longer, sleeker and wider, conveying a sense of dynamism that is further enhanced by the model-specific front and rear aprons. Black details, such as those on the radiator grille or the wing mirrors, identify the new range-topping model at first glance and continue the tradition of the MONTE CARLO variants,” says ŠKODA Chief Designer Oliver Stefani.

 

The dynamic concept is also reflected in the interior, which is dominated by black paint with red details and a leather-wrapped multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel and handbrake lever. The decorative trim of the interior parts has been given a carbon finish and the sports seats with integrated head restraints are a dominant feature. It is here that we also find elements in red, the horizontal bar on the dashboard and other parts of the interior is also red, and the ambient LED backlighting is the same colour. The sporty look is further enhanced by the stainless steel pedal covers.

 

Cutting-edge technology

The new FABIA MONTE CARLO boasts cutting-edge technology. One available option, for example, is a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit whose layout is tailor-made for this design version. 

The car’s convenient and practical features can include a heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, infotainment with a screen size ranging from 6.5 to 9.2 inches and, thanks to the integrated eSIM, you can always be online. This also lets the owner access ŠKODA Connect and mobile online services. The FABIA MONTE CARLO can also be equipped with the voice assistant Laura, which understands fifteen languages. There are options for mobile phone mirroring or wireless charging, and the FABIA MONTE CARLO has up to five USB-C ports.

Safety equipment can include up to nine airbags, which, together with the car’s sophisticated construction and array of safety systems and assistants, earned the latest generation FABIA a five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests. Top of the assistance systems is one called Travel Assist, which enables assisted driving by combining adaptive cruise control, ultrasonic sensors and cameras, and a lane-keeping system. The parking assistant is also impressive. ISOFIX anchors can be found at the rear on the outer two seats and at the front on the passenger seat.

A car’s headlights are another important safety feature, and the FABIA MONTE CARLO comes with LED technology as standard, with Full LED headlights available as an option. Fog lights are also available and the rear lights with Full LED technology are another available option. 

Another sphere in which the car excels is aerodynamics: the FABIA MONTE CARLO boasts a drag coefficient of c_d 0.28, the best in the small car segment. One way this is achieved is by means of special “louvres” in front of the engine radiator, which close off air access to the radiator when cooling requirements are low, thus improving air circulation. The top-quality aerodynamics in turn help reduce fuel consumption.

Four engines

The new powertrains also contribute to the reduced fuel consumption, and the available range essentially replicates that of the standard ŠKODA FABIA. The basic version is the three-cylinder naturally aspirated 1.0 MPI EVO that delivers 59 kW of power and 93 Nm of torque and is coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. The five-speed manual transmission is also available on cars equipped with the 1.0 TSI EVO engine, which generates 70 kW and 175 Nm of torque. The more powerful version of the three-cylinder TSI EVO (81 kW, 200 Nm) offers a choice of transmissions: a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG. 

The four-cylinder 1.5 TSI EVO, with 110 kW and 250 Nm of torque, is topped by a seven-speed DSG transmission as standard. In this version, the FABIA MONTE CARLO reaches a top speed of up to 225 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8 seconds.

Bello mi piace come allestimento, tetto in vetro che a me però non piace come è stato implementato su Fabia, senza tendina avvolgibile.

Interessante anche la nuova motorizzazione 1.5 TSI da 150CV, Fabia con questa generazione "gioca" a fare la grande. Peccato ancora l'assenza di un mild hybrid che completerebbe la rosa delle motorizzazioni.

E' incredibile come a me piacciono le auto grandi, ora ho 2 Golf, ma una Fabia la comprerei comunque!

Mi è sempre piaciuta, infatti doveva essere la mia prima auto...
