Se non erro la produzione di EX90 parte nel secondo trimestre 23, probabilmente hanno conteggiato pure questi mesi ed anche per questo i tempi di attesa sono così lunghi.

Si hai ragione, ho sentito oggi che la produzione nel stabilmento americano parte dal terzo trimestre 2023, molto probabile verso fine del trimestre.

COPENHAGEN -- Volvo has delayed the production start of its new EX90 all-electric flagship for more software development and testing.

The company now expects to start production of the SUV in the first half of next year, Volvo said in a statement on Thursday.

Volvo unveiled the model late last year, expecting it to hit showrooms in early 2024.

Demand for the car remains high, Volvo said. Doing further work on the vehicle’s software will help ensure a quality experience for all customers, the company said. 

Production was previously planned to begin at the end of 2023, a Volvo spokesperson said. He declined to say when the company now expects the model to reach showrooms.

The biggest all-new product debut for Volvo Cars in half a decade will have standard safety equipment that goes "beyond that of any Volvo before it," the automaker's CEO, Jim Rowan, has said.

The EX90 full-electric premium large SUV will replace the XC90 as Volvo's flagship. It will have an "invisible shield of safety" that can help reduce accidents that cause serious injuries or death by up to one-fifth, Roawan said.

Polestar delay

In a separate statement, Volvo sister brand Polestar said its Polestar 3 will also be delayed because it shares new all-electric vehicle underpinnings with the EX90.

Production should begin during the first quarter of next year, Polestar said.

Polestar also reduced its forecast for this year to between 60,000 to 70,000 vehicles because of the delay as well as a slowing economic environment. It had previously aimed to make about 80,000 cars in 2023.

Polestar 4 is going ahead as planned with a launch in China in the fourth quarter and other markets in early 2024.

Automakers have started to run into trouble on aligning complex development and production schedules for future vehicles decked out with sophisticated digital offerings.

Volkswagen Group has delayed key models including the Porsche electric Macan for at least two years because it couldn’t get the software ready on time, and EV startup Fisker cut its output forecast after struggling with software integration problems.

Falsa partenza per EX90 e Polestar 3.

Volvo EX90: i clienti la troveranno priva di tante funzionalità

Ancora problemi per il SUV Volvo EX90. Ai clienti, infatti, arriverà privo di numerose funzioni.

Dopo diversi mesi di ritardo è stata avviata la produzione del Volvo EX90, il SUV che in Europa arriverà accompagnato da passaporto per la batteria, ma ai clienti che l’hanno acquistato non arriverà completo come immaginato.

Volvo EX90: i problemi nella produzione

Alla fine del 2023 i guai per il SUV Volvo EX90 sono arrivati dal software che ha costretto la casa automobilistica svedese a ritardare l’avvio della produzione e le relative consegne, inizialmente previste per i primi mesi del 2024. Ora ci sono nuovi problemi. Alcuni clienti, infatti, hanno ricevuto da Volvo una comunicazione email contenente un elenco di funzionalità “che potrebbero essere ritardate al momento della consegna” del SUV EX90.

Quali sono queste funzionalità? Nell’elenco ci sono funzionalità legate alla sicurezza, quelle di integrazione del sistema LiDAR, ma anche quelle legate all’avviso di traffico trasversale, la ricarica bidirezionale, l’assistenza alla velocità in curva, l’Apple CarPlay wireless e anche l’assenza del tema chiaro sugli schermi dell’infotainment e quello del quadro strumenti. Ma non solo.

Nella stessa email Volvo ha fatto sapere che il computer principale dell’EX90 deve funzionare necessariamente in background in questo momento per poter controllare le sue funzioni avanzate. Il risultato? Che il SUV possa perdere il 3% circa di carica al giorno quando è fermo parcheggiato e non collegato alla presa di ricarica. Il problema non è comunque persistente in quanto dopo 72 ore fermo il SUV EX90 entra in una sorta di letargo così da risparmiare l’autonomia della batteria.

 

Tutto si risolverà facilmente con un aggiornamento, ma resta comunque una situazione poco elegante e che sicuramente farà storcere il naso a più di qualche utente. Anche perché non tutti gli aggiornamenti saranno OTA (da remoto), alcuni richiedono di recarsi presso un concessionario. Volvo avviserà per tempo i propri clienti per prendere appuntamenti, ma resta il fatto che il SUV Volvo EX90 al momento dell’acquisto risulterà incompleto e comunque diverso da come i clienti che lo hanno acquistato si sarebbero aspettati.
