The Zeekr 007 electric sedan from Geelyhas hit pre-sales in China. It has up to 870-km range, 636 hp, and a starting price of 229,900 yuan (31,730 USD). It speeds up from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.84 seconds. The 007 is equipped with a LiDAR sensor and Qualcomm’s 8295 chip.

The Zeekr 007 is a mid-size electric sedan with dimensions of 4865/1900/1450 mm with a wheelbase of 2928 mm. It adopts the brand-new design language made by Stefan Sielaff. Its main feature is the Zeekr Stargate 90-inch interactive light in the front end. It can project customizable images and text. The 007 has buttons instead of door handles and a LiDAR sensor on the roof.

 

Inside, the Zeekr 007 has a 15.05-inch screen powered by Kr GPT AI and a Snapdragon 8295 chip from Qualcomm. Its steering wheel has two spokes and a fuzzy shape. The gear selector sits on the steering column. Behind the wheel, we can see an LCD instrument panel and a 35.5-inch AR-HUD. The 007 also has a 7.1.4 acoustic system that supports 21 speakers.

Zeekr 007 features

Another feature of the Zeekr 007 is the advanced driving assist system. It comprises over 20 active safety functions, thanks to a LiDAR, 12 cameras, and an Nvidia Orin-X chip. The Zeekr 007 is equipped with the NZP high-speed autonomous pilot assist. This system can operate in every corner of China.

 

The Zeekr 007 stands on the PMA2+ platform derived from the SEA architecture. It adopts a high-voltage 800V platform that allows this sedan to charge 610 km in 15 minutes. The 007 has a double-wishbone suspension on the front axle and a multi-link one in the rear.

 

The entry-level 007 has a single e-motor in the rear axle for 415 hp (310 kW). It speeds up to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The 4WD version has two e-motors for 636 hp (475 kW), suitable for zero-to-hundred acceleration in 2.84 seconds. The 007 has two range options: 688 km (CLTC) and 870 km (CLTC).

Certamente degna di nota in termini di caratterizzazione complessiva, nonché (ulteriore) esempio di come i cinesi (*) sappiano oramai come disegnare i loro prodotti a costo di rischiare con la loro audacia...

 

Entrando invece più nel merito del thread, particolare la zona montante posteriore dove potrebbe apparire come una sorta di coupé-cabrio a tetto chiuso...

Zeekr launches 800V Golden Battery, can charge 500 km in 15 minutes and withstand 1000°C

Zeekr launched the self-developed lithium iron phosphate (LFP) accumulator called Golden “Brick” Battery during the Zeekr Power Day. The company claims the battery is super safe, performing extreme testing such as keeping it at extreme cold (-45 °C) for 8 hours, throwing it into a 1000°C fire, and installing it back in the car, showing it still works.

Zeekr claims Golden Brick is the world’s first mass-produced LFP battery with volume utilization over 80%. The mass production started today, and the Zeekr 007 sedan will be the first vehicle to have it. The 007 will launch on December 27.

The battery has 83.7% volume utilization thanks to an optimized compact “sandwich structure”, ultra-thin separators, and an integrated tray design.

For comparison, in June 2022, CATL unveiled its Qilin battery with NMC chemistry and CTP (cell-to-pack) technology. It had a record-breaking utilization of 72% and 255 Wh/kg energy density. Back in 2019, the volume utilization of CATL’s first module-less CTP battery was only 55%. Today, about 66% volume utilization is a standard for LFP batteries.

Golden Brick’s peak charging power is 500 kW, and the maximum charge rate is 4.5C. Between 10% and 80%, the battery can charge 500 km in 15 minutes. At -10 °C, the fast charging speed increases by 25%. It is also capable of 16C short burst discharge in 3 seconds.

The battery’s body is covered with 4000 V high voltage-resistant gold-colored insulation film, increasing resistance by 27%. The whole pack is also waterproof, reaching IPX level 8.

Zeekr also released a video promoting battery safety. It shows various tests such as putting a battery for 48 hours underwater, casting it into a 1000°C fire, putting it into a -45°C freezer for 8 hours, and dragging it through the mud for 3 kilometers. After those 4 tests, Zeekr installed the battery back into the car and concluded that the battery still functioned properly.

However, it still wasn’t enough for Zeekr. They sent the 22-ton roller to drive over it and let the 710 kg battery fall 10 meters from the crane, showing no fire, smoke, or exploding.
