Supersport ushers in a new era of design, dynamics and refinement to the Morgan range. Unmistakably Morgan, yet more contemporary and minimalist in its design, Supersport is the most dynamically capable Morgan ever thanks to the new ‘CXV’ aluminium platform which underpins it. Prioritising driver engagement and enjoyment over a blind pursuit of lap times and brake horsepower, Supersport is a performance sports car for individuals who love driving.

Design & Engineering evolution

A true flagship must represent the evolution of design and dynamics in equal measure. Supersport achieves this and more, rewarding its driver with every journey. Obsessing over every detail, Supersport’s creators have been relentless in their approach.

 

Contemporary

 

Supersport represents an evolution of Morgan’s functional design philosophy, presenting a contemporary study of the brand’s timeless silhouette, yet one that is instantly recognisable as a Morgan. This philosophy prioritises design honesty, requiring many elements of the vehicle to have multiple functions. No single era is reflected in Supersport’s design. Instead, multiple eras and inspirations are referenced and rearranged to create something new, yet with timeless appeal.

 

Minimalistic

 

Greater levels of intelligence to the surfacing and a minimalist, de-cluttered approach, contribute to Supersport’s contemporary aesthetic.

Boot

More luggage space for more adventures. Supersport’s boot is operated using the remote central locking key and provides ample room for sidescreen stowage and overnight bags. Lined with matching box weave carpet to the interior, the rear of the boot is framed by an exposed piece of lacquered ash wood.

Sidescreens

A new precision mounting system makes the slimmed-down removable sidescreens easier to operate and reduced the need for exterior fixings. The screens are released using the interior door latch, which when pushed forward releases the sidescreen to be lifted away from the door.

The aluminium upper sections are available in either a satin silver or satin grey finish, whilst the lower fabric coordinates with the roof colour.

Wheels

Two new wheel designs represent the lightest alloy wheels Morgan has ever created. A new standard 18-inch flow formed aluminium ‘Superlite’ wheel weighs just 10.8kg per corner. Optional 19-inch forged aluminium ‘Aerolite’ wheels weigh just 9.7kg per corner.

Interchangeable Roof

Supersport’s interchangeable carbon composite hard top and mohair folding roof offer two distinct persona.

The hard top weighs just 19.7kg and is fitted with a large, curved glass rear screen providing a vast daylight opening.

The folding mohair soft top transforms Supersport into a stripped-back convertible. The mohair roof is available in a choice of colour variants and is supplied with a cover for fitment whilst driving.

 

CXV Platform

 

Supersport’s new ‘CXV’ Platform weighs just 102kg. A 10% increase in tortional rigidity over the previous ‘CX’ platform is improved by a further 10% when the hard top is fitted. A new steering system with revised shaft routing improves feedback and increases steering speed by 13%. The updated suspension provides a compliant ride, better body control, and enhanced handling with new geometry and standard anti-roll bars.

Powertrain

Supersport is powered by a BMW B58 TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, which produces 335bhp and is connected to a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. The use of a BMW engine continues a successful 25-year partnership between Malvern and Munich that began with the Aero 8 in 2000.

Tyres

Standard and optional wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres, selected for their wet weather grip and enhanced driver feedback.

Lightweight Engineering

Supersport has been designed and engineered with lightweight at it’s core, all in the aid of delivering a car that drives effortlessly down the road. The car has a kerb weight of just 1170kg, giving Supersport a power-to-weight ratio of 286bhp per tonne.

Aerodynamics

Supersport’s evolved design is more aerodynamically efficient than previous six-cylinder models. Utilising computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology to influence the design surfacing and underbody has resulted in a 5% reduction in drag, a 20% reduction in lift, and improved aerodynamic balance.

INTERCHANGEABLE ROOF

An ability to change between carbon composite hard top and folding mohair soft top gives Supersport multiple personas and enables year round enjoyment.

Features

Dynamic Handling Pack

The Dynamic Handling Pack features adjustable front and rear Nitron dampers with valving and spring rates that have been tuned for Supersport. Chose from 24 clicks of damping adjustment to refine the ride to your driving style.

Sennheiser Audio

The enhanced Sennheiser audio system utilises lightweight efficient actuators in the dashboard and chassis to deliver a high-fidelity audio experience, featuring a high dynamic range and loudness levels to match the driving experience.

Connectivity Pack

The connectivity pack includes wireless charging in the centre console storage tray and handsfree calling which is operated using controls on the dashboard and indicator stalk.

Three discreetly housed microphones utilise beamforming technology to focus on specific sound sources and reduce background noise. This, combined with an amplifier that uses active noise cancelling and echo cancellation algorithms, enables a phone conversation to be held in perfect clarity whilst travelling with the roof down.

Adaptive Sports Exhaust

Available with black or silver tips, Supersport’s adaptive sports exhaust has been tuned to deliver a soundtrack to accompany each driving mode.

Interior Wood

Interior wood features on the dashboard lower rail, centre console and door cards. Available in a choice of 11 different finishes, from engineered marquetry to traditional walnut, each wooden section is meticulously hand-formed by skilled artisans.

Luggage Rack

The laser cut luggage rack is designed for increased storage for greater touring. Rear overriders, which match those at the front of the vehicle, provide the mounting points for the aluminium luggage rack. Available in Satin Silver or Dark Grey, the rack operates in unison with the boot, hinging rearwards.

Limited-slip Differential

An optional Limited Slip Differential unlocks the potential of Supersport’s powertrain and delivers more control through the corners.

motore e cambio sono bavaresi , arriva il kit e lo mettono dentro la vettura e non penso che visti i volumi possano decidere di fare una leva all'uopo

La leva lo si risolve, con qualche di migliaia di euro da morgan park hamburg.

Le louvres sul cofano si possono sempre far fare in Morgan.

Va bene, pazienza anche per la griglia radiatore costruita e saldata a mano che e' stata eliminata.

Discutibili le portiere che sono ormai "grandi" quasi come quelle delle aero ma senza la comodita' del finestrino a scomparsa.

Mi lasciano anche abbastanza a bocca aperta i 6.600 GBP che chiedono per l'upgrade ai cerchi da 19 (aero style). 

Ma tutto sommato, tutto digeribile, per buona parte dei potenziali clienti.

La vera cosa che per me manca (e non certo per la coppia o la potenza) e' un V8. Che sarebbe stato "dovuto" per il flagship model.

In sintesi un bel prodotto, ma non a 140/150k finita.

Un salto quantico nella ricercatezza del design sia per come sono trattate le superfici che per i dettagli.

Non so come invecchierà, magari tra vent'anni sembrerà una ridicola ibridizzazione di un corpo vettura antico con stilemi moderni, ma nel frattempo io la apprezzo molto.

Io avrei fatto un ulteriore strappo alla regola e l'avrei dotata di un paio di veri finestrini, ma capisco che sarebbero probabilmente arrivati gli appassionati in fabbrica coi forconi.

Peccato che il prezzo abbia raggiunto livelli davvero importanti.

La teoria è quando si conosce il funzionamento di qualcosa ma quel qualcosa non funziona.

La pratica è quando tutto funziona ma non si sa come.

Spesso si finisce con il coniugare la teoria con la pratica: non funziona niente e non si sa il perché.

Si e no... La Aero supersports (il flagship model di allora) veniva un bel 188k eur, nel 2015. Al netto degli optional (sui 10k).

Pero' "commercialmente" si posizionava qualche gradino sopra anche la Plus 8 di allora, nonostante ne condividesse motore, telaio e ciclistica.
