YangWang plans to extend its product line this year, starting with the U9 electric supercar. It will launch on February 25. However, the brand’s officials willingly shared valuable insights on this beast before the event. YangWang U9 has four TZ220XYAK electric motors made by BYD. Each e-motor has a peak power of 240 kW (322 hp). The combined power of this supercar reaches 960 kW (1,287 hp). YangWang officials disclosed the peak torque of the system reaches 1,680 Nm at 21,000 rpm. As a result, the YangWang U9 can speed up to 100 km/h in 2 seconds. According to YangWang, the U9 adopts the world’s first U-shaped motor design, providing a lower center of gravity. It also has high-temperature and demagnetization-resistant permanent magnets that improve motor efficiency. They can withstand temperatures of up to 200 degrees Celsius. Usually, the magnet of the e-motor can handle a temperature of around 140 degrees Celsius. It also has a silicon carbide controller, which boosts the maximum transmission efficiency to 99.8%. For clarity, the efficiency of conventional automatic gearboxes ranges from 86% to 94%. The thermal management system of the YangWang U9 comprises dual electronic pumps on the front and rear axles. Each of them is independently controlled, cooling the motors. The YangWang U9 is equipped with the DiSus-X chassis. Aside of dancing and jumping, this supercar can take corners faster, brake without nodding, and start without raising the front end. The DiSus-X suspension can lift each axle with a speed of 500 mm/s thanks to the maximum power of 36 kW provided by the 800V platform. The body of the YangWang U9 adopts carbon fiber and the next-gen structure. The lightweight body coefficient reaches 0.95. As for the torsional rigidity, it is 54,425 Nm. The rear spoiler of the U9 provides downforce of up to 280 kg. However, there is a fly in the ointment. The curb weight of the U9 is 2,475 kg. It is almost twice the weight of Porsche 911 (992). Its battery pack alone weighs 633 kg. So, it is quite heavy for the supercar. The YangWang U9’s dimensions are 4966/2029/1295 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. It has an LFP battery pack on board with a capacity of 80 kWh. It has 465 km of CLTC range. BYD will manufacture the YangWang U9 in its motherland: Shenzhen, China. Its price and other details will be revealed on February 25. (CNC)

Firefly’s first EV appeared in the spy shots, revealing a compact shape similar to Zeekr X, Volkswagen ID.3, or upcoming BYD Yuan UP. The brand will launch in early 2025 in Europe, according to Nio’s president, Qin Lihong. The new Firefly (a codename) will be Nio’s mass-market brand positioned in the 100,000 – 200,000 yuan (14,000 – 28,000 USD) segment. Unlike other Nio models, it will debut its first model in Europe, where the brand will also launch. Firefly will focus on small, affordable cars and target young buyers. According to MyDrivers, the first EV will debut in Europe in the third quarter of this year. According to previous reports, the third Nio brand will be manufactured in Chuzhou, Anhui province, rebuilt from the former Cheetah Automobile Factory. The facility will start mass production in late 2024, and the production capacity is 450,000 cars. Nio currently sells cars under the Nio marque and will soon launch its second brand. According to previous reports, the new brand will launch in April and start deliveries of its first model, codenamed DOM, in the second quarter. Alps will be positioned between Firegly and Nio-badged cars with a price tag between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan (28,000 and 42,000 USD).

BYD licenses production of LFP Blade batteries to GM, Ford supplier BorgWarner Inc. has announced a strategic agreement with FinDreams Battery, a subsidiary of BYD Company Limited, to manufacture lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs for commercial vehicles. As part of the deal, BYD will supply blade cells to BorgWarner, which will use them to manufacture batteries in Europe and the Americas. The duration of the agreement is eight years. BorgWarner will also get intellectual property rights to use FinDreams’s battery pack design and manufacturing process as part of the agreement. BorgWarner is a US-based tier 1 automotive supplier listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and among its customers are GM, Ford, and Stellantis. The company is also very active in China recently. It operates 11 manufacturing facilities, and last week, it announced the start of the production of electric motors for Xpeng X9 MPV. They also revealed the same e-motor will be used in Xpeng’s new mysterious B-class sedan, which will begin production in Q3 2024. Moreover, on February 8, BorgWarner clinched a deal with a leading Chinese OEM to provide its dual inverter with a boost function for the automaker’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric range-extended vehicle (EREV) platforms. Although BorgWarner didn’t mention who the Chinese OEM is, according to CarNewsChina information, it is Great Wall Motor (GWM). The GWM prepares to launch Poer Hi4-T powered EREV pick-up soon in addition to the BEV and PHEV variants. BorgWarner is also a supplier of electric drive modules (eDM) to Aiways and Ford’s Chinese joint venture with JMC. The agreement with BYD, spanning eight years, establishes BorgWarner as “the only non-OEM manufacturer,” unaffiliated with FinDreams Battery, with the rights to localize LFP battery packs in Europe, the Americas, and select regions of Asia Pacific for commercial vehicles in class 3 and above, according to a press release. Non-OEM means that Borwarg is the only automotive supplier with those licensing rights. However, there could be an auto manufacturer with the same license, hinting that more BYD deals might be announced soon. Frédéric Lissalde, President and CEO of BorgWarner, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the growing global demand for LFP battery packs due to their cost competitiveness. He praised FinDreams Battery’s 20-plus years of experience and success in LFP batteries for mobility sectors in China and Europe, emphasizing the synergies between the two companies in advancing cell and battery pack technology for commercial vehicles. Micheal He, President and CEO of FinDreams Battery, emphasized the strategic importance of collaboration amidst complex geopolitical dynamics and the increasing adoption of LFP electrification for overseas commercial vehicles. He highlighted the partnership’s ability to provide diverse and flexible options for overseas customers, contributing to the rapid electrification of the commercial vehicle market. (CNC)

Se leggete l'intervista originale in tedescho con Thomas Schäfer, poi capite che ha affermato che la collaborazione con Xpeng e solo per prodotti speciali per il mercato cinese per diventare piu veloce e piu vicino al cliente di questo mercato, che domanda specialmente nel settore multimedia/software soluzioni e gadgets che in Europa spesso non sono omologabile e per questo sono spesso fraintesi dagli sviluppatori locali europei. Direi approccio completamente diverso e target diverso rispetto Clonantis.

I costi diretti e indiretti del lavoro sono l'una, ma l'altra e la produttivita e la capacita del lavoro. E in una statistica della OECD le ore medie annuale di un testa lavorativa in Italia sono ancora 50 ore in meno rispetto alla "repubblica del tempo libero", la Germania.

...erano 1° mercato solo per volume assoluto over life cycle, non in quote delle vendite. Svizzera ha una quota Q di 29,4%, UK 24,1%, Germania 23,8% invece Usa solo 7,3%. Quindi per i mercati europei una Q manca piu rispetto per il mercato cowboy.

Li Auto has just issued a teaser picture of the forthcoming L6 with a timely Year of the Dragon New Year’s theme. The official launch of this car is scheduled for April this year. The L6 aims to become the brand’s bestseller. The Li Auto L6 will launch in April and will be the most mass-market oriented Li model yet with prices expected in the 200,000-300,000 yuan (27,800-41,700 USD) price bracket. The sales target is 30,000 a month. Li Auto in 2023 delivered 376,030 cars and has a target of 800,000 for this year and so the L6 will make up a significant proportion of the number. < Currently, Li Auto sells the L7, L8 and L9 SUVs which are all range extended models (EREV) and the L6 will join these. Also launching this year is the Li Mega the brand’s first all-electric model and an MPV in a break from the SUV only lineup which has served the brand so well. Li with its L lineup of SUVs has taken an iPhone type approach meaning that there are core features and a look across the range with only the sizes differing. The L6 is positioned as a luxury five-seat SUV whereas the L7 is the brand’s flagship five seater. While the L6 is still quite big it is smaller than the L7. Riding on a 2920 mm wheelbase it has a length, width and height of 4925 mm 1960 mm and 1735 mm respectively. In contrast the L7 is 5050 mm 1995 mm and 1750 mm while the wheelbase is 3005 mm. As well as a Pro and Max version there will be a cheaper Air version. Lower priced versions will not be equipped with Lidar. Visually, the car will be very much like a scaled down L7 with only minor differences. The interior is also expected to be similar to the L7. A 1.5T engine with 113 KW maximum power will act as a generator for range extension. Drive will come from dual electric motors. At launch it will come with a lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by either CATL or Sunwoda. Later, a nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) ternary lithium battery will be available. (CNC)

Si certo, ma a cosa serve questa repitizione di "....una volta...." ? Una volta -1974- il prezzo medio delle auto vendute in Germania era 5.320.- DM, 2023 invece questa media in Germania era 44.630.- Eur. E adesso...cosa facciamo ?
