  1. Leapmotor Technology Senior Vice President, Cao Li, recently offered a glimpse of the upcoming B10/Lafa 5 Ultra, sharing real-world images of the vehicle on social media. The Lafa 5 Ultra is anticipated to be a high-performance variant of the standard Lafa 5, which is scheduled for launch on November 28. The more potent Ultra version is slated for a market debut in the second quarter of 2026. The Lafa 5 Ultra’s front fascia features an added front splitter and a prominent, outward-jutting front lip, finished in a sleek black gloss. Along the vehicle’s lower doors, new side skirts have been integrated, complementing the black wheels. The rear of the Lafa 5 Ultra is equipped with a sporty rear wing and a bold diffuser integrated into the lower bumper. While official details regarding the Lafa 5 Ultra’s interior and powertrain remain under wraps, the extended development timeline – with its launch pushed back by half a year compared to the standard Lafa 5 – suggests it will be more than just an aesthetic package. Industry observers quoted by Autohome speculate that the Ultra variant will indeed be a performance model, potentially featuring a dual-motor setup for superior power output. (CNC)
  3. Hyundai vende lo stabilmento cinese di Chongqing alla Changan "Changan takes over former Hyundai factory in China Changan has taken over a Beijing Hyundai factory in Chongqing and will use it to produce vehicles for its Deepal brand in future. The main aim is to increase production capacity, as Changan is reaching its limits. The background to this is said to be the growth plans of Changan and Deepal. In 2024, production capacity was still at 2.25 million vehicles, but Changan’s sales target for 2025 is three million vehicles. According to The Economic Observer, Changan’s production is operating at 84 per cent capacity, which is a fairly good figure, and leaves little room for improvement. Beijing Hyundai, a Chinese joint venture between Hyundai and BAIC, announced the factory in Chongqing in 2015 as the joint venture’s fifth plant at the time and started production at the end of 2017. Just four years later, in December 2021, Beijing Hyundai had already shut down production at the plant, which cost over a billion dollars at the time – the plant’s capacity is 300,000 vehicles. Hyundai invested heavily in China several years ago, but the hoped-for success failed to materialise – Hyundai somewhat missed the boat when it came to the trend towards electric mobility in China, as the Hyundai EO, the Group’s first electric car designed exclusively for China, only went on sale this year. Initially, Hyundai and its sister brand Kia tried unsuccessfully to market electric versions of their combustion engine models in China. Since then, various plans have been made and then scrapped. Changan, which was ‘promoted’ to state-owned car manufacturer in China in the summer, is not the first domestic manufacturer to take over a poorly utilised joint venture factory: in 2021, Li Auto had already taken over a Beijing Hyundai plant in Beijing. And just this November, another Chinese manufacturer, Geely, took over a SAIC-GM plant in Shenyang in the northeastern Chinese province of Liaoning. Changan has big plans for its electric brand Deepal: with the S05 and S07, two electric SUVs are also set to enter the German market. " (elecdrive.net)

  21. Stellantis will reportedly create a new Jeep SUV with Chinese Dongfeng’s tech Stellantis will reportedly develop a new Jeep-branded off-road SUV jointly with the state-owned Dongfeng Motor Group. Their vehicle will adopt the technologies of Voyah and M-Hero brands. Dongfeng officials proved they are in communication with Stellantis, refusing to comment on a new development. When Stellantis and China are first mentioned, many will think of Leapmotor. Cooperation between the two companies has been discussed since 2023. However, the international group has a much longer-standing partnership with Dongfeng, Stellantis’ partner in the production of Citroën and Peugeot vehicles in China. In May 2025, the Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen JV launched a new NEV brand called Hedmos. In July, the CEO of Stellantis Group, Antonio Filosa, visited Dongfeng Motor and experienced key models from Voyah and M-Hero brands. The top manager highlighted that Stellantis will deepen its cooperation with the state-owned automaker to accelerate the transition to the new energy segment. Jeep from Stellantis and DongfengEconomic Observer reported that Stellantis and Dongfeng might have reached a preliminary agreement with Dongfeng Motor. This collaboration includes the development of a Jeep off-road SUV with the integration of Voyah and M-Hero brands. Previously, Jeep cars were manufactured by GAC in China. However, this joint venture was declared bankrupt in 2022. The Jeep partnership between Stellantis and Dongfeng will adopt the model previously adopted by the Freelander project from Chery and Jaguar Land Rover. It means Stellantis will take care of styling while Dongfeng will develop core technologies, including powertrain, cockpit, and autonomous driving. The two parties plan to launch their first Jeep new energy crossover in Q1 2027 with a development cycle of 18 months. CarNewsChina expects that this partnership will allow Stellantis to solidify its market positioning in the Middle Kingdom. Previously, this group’s sales declined for several years in China. The launch of a new BEV or PHEV model from Jeep will help Stellantis and Dongfeng to relaunch this brand domestically. Later, the China-developed Jeep crossover may enter overseas markets. It may adopt a lot of tech from the recently launched M-Hero 817. (CNC)
