Secondo un resoconto della tedesca „ManagerMagazin“ la nuova fabricca a Wolfsburg per il modello Trinity sara cancellato dal AD Blume, il nuovo modello stesso, previsto per 2026, sara posticipato a 2030. La decisione finale e la communicazione si aspetta per Q1 2023. Solo per la fabricca era previsto un investimento di 2Mrd.

Alfa Romeo Tonale green driving Alfa Romeo says the plug-in Tonale will reduce the brand’s average CO2 emissions by 40 percent. BALOCCO, Italy -- Alfa Romeo has dropped plans to sell its Tonale crossover in the U.S. with a 2.0-liter powerful gasoline engine, opting instead to sell only a plug-in hybrid variant of the model. At Tonale test drive here on Nov. 14, Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato said the Tonale would only be sold in the U.S. with the same plug-in hybrid powertrain offered in Europe. The decision is a U-turn by Imparato, who last year said the Tonale for the U.S. market would have a 256-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission coupled with four-wheel drive. The Tonale’s 275-hp plug-in hybrid drivetrain combines a 1.3-liter, four-cylinder 177-hp gasoline engine with a 122-hp (90 kW) electric motor. The electric motor improves the crossover’s fuel economy and lowers its CO2 emissions to 26-33 grams per km. The Tonale’s sister model, the Dodge Hornet, will get the 2.0-liter, non-hybrid engine. The Hornet will also be sold with the same plug-in drivetrain as the Tonale. Both cars are built at the Stellantis factory in Pomigliano, Italy. An Alfa Romeo spokesperson said the reason the brand has now decided to sell only the plug-in Tonale in the U.S. was mainly because of the need to cut CO2 emissions, especially in the so-called CARB states. These are the states that follow the strict emission rules being gradually introduced by California. According to California’s proposed Advanced Clean Cars II Regulations, introduced in August 2022 and waiting for final approval, the share of zero-CO2 emission vehicles for each automaker (including plug-ins) will have to grow to 35 percent in 2026 and increase to 100 percent in 2035. Alfa Romeo started taking orders for the Tonale plug-in on Nov. 17, with first deliveries in Europe expected in the first quarter of 2023. Shipping to the U.S. will start a few weeks after. At the Balocco event, Imparato said the Tonale plug-in powertrain “is not just another powertrain; it’s an existential need." Imparato said the plug-in Tonale, Alfa’s first such model, will reduce the brand’s average CO2 emissions by 40 percent. It will also enable the Tonale to boost sales in western and northern European markets such as Germany, France, the Netherlands and Norway where plug-ins are popular. Imparato declined to give sales forecasts for the Tonale. In February, he said that Tonale sales could reach up to 80,000 a year. (ANE)

MILAN -- Stellantis has agreed to buy aiMotive, a developer of advanced artificial intelligence and autonomous driving software, to advance its technology development efforts, the company said in a statement. No financial details of the transaction have been disclosed. The acquisition enhances Stellantis' artificial intelligence and autonomous driving core technology, expands its global talent pool, and boosts the mid-term development of its all-new STLA AutoDrive platform, the company added in the statement. The deal also supports Stellantis' ambition to generate around 20 billion euros ($20.75 billion) in additional annual revenues by 2030 from software-enabled product offerings and subscriptions. Budapest-based aiMotive has offices in Germany, the U.S. and Japan and employs over 200 employees worldwide, including engineers with advanced artificial intelligence and autonomous driving expertise. The startup will operate as a subsidiary of Stellantis, maintaining its operational independence and culture. Founder László Kishonti will remain as CEO. Kishonti is a 2019 Automotive News Europe Rising Star. The startup will continue selling three areas of its current technology product portfolio, including aiData, aiSim and aiWare, to other partners, the statement said. (Reuters)

In China, BYD is the standout performer in terms of NEV production and sales volume. At the beginning of 2022, BYD even stopped producing ICE vehicles, focusing on BEVs and PHEVs only. A lot of local analysts suggested this move will allow BYD to grow its NEV market share. BYD 3 Millionth NEV Milestone As mentioned, on November 16, BYD has produced the 3 millionth NEV. It appeared to be the Seal sporty sedan. Worth mentioning that its owner is Wang Shuang, a famous Chinese female football player. What is it: a coincidence or the company’s PR-move? Only BYD knows. We thought that BYD will share some details on their new high-end SUV brand called Yangwang. Instead, BYD has announced a new brand in a price segment between 400,000 and 600,000 RMB (56,450 – 84,650 USD). They have promised to tell us more about the new brand in 2023.   13. Mercedes-Benz cut prices on two electric car models in China by as much as $33,000, as heated competition in the world’s biggest EV market impacts sales. The automaker said in a statement on its website on Tuesday that it was reducing prices on certain models from its EQ range, effective Wednesday, and that it would provide subsidies to customers who recently bought the cars. The cuts seemed to be immediate, with the EQE priced at 478,000 yuan ($67,675) on Mercedes’ Chinese website Wednesday morning, compared to 528,000 yuan as recently as Tuesday. The EQS luxury edition model was listed at 956,000 yuan on Wednesday, down from 1.19 million yuan on Tuesday, equivalent to a reduction of around $33,000. Mercedes is making the cuts because sales have been disappointing in China, according to people familiar with the company’s plans, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. Some dealers have already been carrying out promotions to try and boost sales, with EQS deliveries at times dropping to as low as 100 a month, the people said. The EQS is the full-electric version of Mercedes’ flagship S-Class model, a vehicle that is meant to showcase the automaker’s most advanced technologies. While the EQS’s low-slung roof makes it very aerodynamic -- increasing its range on a single charge -- the design means there is less headroom in the rear seating compartment, a drawback in the Chinese market where wealthy customers may prefer to sit in the back rather than drive the car themselves. Evolving market In a statement to Bloomberg News, Mercedes said the top-end EV segment in China is still evolving, especially for cars priced above 1 million yuan. “Mercedes-Benz continually observes and analyzes dynamic market developments, including the current positioning of other manufacturers in the luxury segment. Based on that, Mercedes-Benz is repositioning certain EQ models in China,” the automaker said. Foreign and legacy car brands are falling behind rising local names in China, with domestic automakers accounting for almost 80 percent of EV sales in the first seven months of 2022, according to the China Passenger Car Association. Mercedes sold about 8,800 EVs in the country from January to July, data from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center show, including less expensive EQA, EQB and EQC models. Chinese EV giant BYD, which targets more of the middle market, sold nearly 220,000 EVs in October alone. Mercedes is not the only foreign automaker responding to Chinese market pressures. Tesla lowered prices across its lineup in China in October. “Local automakers have already strengthened their muscles,” PCA Secretary General Cui Dongshu said at a briefing earlier this month. “After making up the technological gap in car manufacturing in the new energy vehicle sector, Chinese automakers have an apparent advantage in both supply chains and end sales.” (Bloomberg)
  14. Jaguar Land Rover CEO Thierry Bollore is resigning due to personal reasons, parent Tata Motors said. Bollore, 59, will step down effective Dec. 31, Tata said on Wednesday. Adrian Mardell, currently JLR's head of finance, will take over as interim CEO. Mardell has been part of Jaguar Land Rover for 32 years and is currently a member of its executive board. Bollore has been revamping JLR's business model in an electric-focused strategy called "Reimagine" with a plan to make all Jaguar cars fully electric by 2025 and offer battery variants of its Land Rover vehicles. Bollore has also helped steer the automaker through a chip shortage that hammered the global auto industry. JLR hired Bollore as CEO in 2020 to return Britain's biggest automaker to profit after it took a big hit from the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost a year earlier, Bollore had been ousted as Renault CEO amid the fallout from the Carlos Ghosn scandal. JLR said earlier this month its quarterly loss before tax narrowed to 173 million pounds ($206.06 million), while revenue rose 36 percent from a year earlier. It also expects positive profit margins and cashflow in the second half of 2023. The division's performance is key to India's Tata Motors as it contributes nearly 60 percent to the group's revenue from operations. (ANE)

  17. ...come si sente al momento qui una versione bimotore con ca. 600CV e 1000Nm sara la fine superiore della gamma, per certo ci sara il giocco solito con Macan, Macan S, Macan 4S, Macan turbo, Macan GTS con varie step di potenza. La batteria sembra che ara sempre una versione a 100kWh, i motori sono quelli della Taycan ma modificato forte per meno consumo e recuperazione migliore. Per la vecchia Macan ice adesso ci sono voci che la sua fine arrivera gia al fine del anno 2024, quasi poco dopo il debutto della Macan bev.
