Ford reveals unveiling date for coupe-styled electric car that could revive Capri name The new model will be based on VW Group's MEB platform also used by the Ford Explorer electric compact SUV. COLOGNE, Germany -- Ford will unveil the second full-electric model to be built at its plant here on July 10. Ford started production of its first new electric car in Cologne, the Explorer compact SUV, on May 5 following a $2 billion upgrade of the plant to switch to making electric cars from building the Fiesta combustion-powered small car. The second model's silhouette, visible from camouflaged prototypes seen at the factory, shows a more coupe-like styling compared with the chunkier off-roader shape of the Explorer. The new EV will be called the Capri, media reports have said. Ford has not confirmed the Capri name. It describes the model as "sports crossover." Calling it the Capri would revive a nameplate from Ford’s back catalogue of sports cars. Ford built the Capri fastback between 1968 and 1986 and sold 1.8 million units through three generations. Ford revived another name from its past in 2019 with the Puma. The small SUV is now the brand’s best-seller in Europe. Both Ford BEVs use Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform as part of an industrial partnership between the two automakers. The relationship between the Explorer and the new sports crossover will be similar to that of the VW ID4 SUV and ID5 crossover coupe, which also use the MEB platform. Ford's sports crossover will be built on the same line as the Explorer at the Cologne plant. Production will be between one-third and two-thirds that of the more mainstream Explorer, Ford indicated to journalists during a recent visit to the factory. Ford has the potential to build 250,000 units annually of the two cars on three shifts. The company will start production on two shifts. Prototypes of the sports crossover were visible on the production line ahead of the July launch and the start of full production later this year. The new model is likely to be priced close to the levels of the Explorer, which starts at €49,500 in Germany for the long-range version that Ford says can travel up to 602 km (374 miles) between recharging stops. A shorter-range version of the Explorer costing around €42,500 will be available to order later this year. The new sports crossover will rival the ID5 as well as the coupe version of the related Skoda Enyaq. Other rivals will include the new Smart #3, the Volvo C40 Recharge, the Nissan Ariya and the Renault Megane E-Tech. Ford has switched to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology for the Explorer in a bid to reduce costs. The chemistry is more durable, allowing for a greater number of charging cycles than nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) chemistry. (ANE)

per la programma individual hai come prosuppposto la abilita del stabilmento che deve essere per iprocessi logistica, per il shop floor control ecc al 100% delle funzioni. E San Luis al momento come stabilmento abbastanza nuovo non e al 100%, quindi potrebbe essere che qualche cose che una Dingolfing oppure Monaco fa senza probemi, la non funzionano.

...ma piu il problema della ricarica per chi non ha box, il problema di tempi per ricaricare lunghi, il problema che dopo 4-5 anni una macchina di oggi technicamente sara superato totalmente, il problema di una svalutazione enorme, il problema della durata della batteria, il problema di ricambi estremamente costosi, il problema di costi altissimi dopo un incidente ecc ecc. Secondo me il prezzo e uno dei problemi minore.

Il piano finanziario per i prossimi anni secondo il CFO di VW, Arno Antlitz, sara cambiato. ...secondo me tu stai sopravvalutando notevolmente la velocità della legislazione a Bruxelles. Tutto in questo moloch richiede molti anni, quanti anni hanno trattato per la Euro 7? 8? 10? E sicuro che in un periodo di un o due anni loro decidono niente.

Stellantis, the parent of Fiat, last month announced it would add hybrid versions of its 500e small electric car and Jeep Compass SUV, to be manufactured in Italy, amid a global slowdown in electric car sales. The 500e, which has been sold as an electric-only model since its launch in 2020, will be re-engineered to accommodate a 48-volt mild hybrid drivetrain based on the Firefly small gasoline engine, a highly unusual move. The current 500 gasoline model, first launched in 2007, is built in Poland, where production has already ceased. The head of the Fiat brand for Europe, Gaetano Thorel, said Thursday in a media round table that market demand for the hybrid 500e was worth 100,000-110,000 units per year. The fully electric version sold fewer than 80,000 units last year. "There are many clients out there who would like to own a 500e, but cannot afford it. Now we're giving them a chance to own it," he said. Supplier sources have told Automotive News Europe that Fiat was planning for annual sales of the mild hybrid 500 of about 125,000. Production set for 2026 The hybrid 500e will be based on the same platform as the 500e EV, while Fiat is phasing out the old version of the 500, which was assembled in Poland. The selling price of the 500e EV starts at about 29,000 euros ($31,600), excluding government purchase incentives. It is also being launched in the United States. Fiat brand CEO Francois Olivier said the hybrid 500e would cost "a few hundred euros" more than the one produced in Poland, which starts from around 18,000 euros, as it will offer further technological features. Production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2026 in the Mirafiori complex in the Fiat's hometown of Turin, in Italy. (ANE)

..con quale senso? Stellantis come organizzazione sociale? Ovviamente per gli volumi vendibile in Europa Mirafiori e superflua, l'unica cosa logica da fare e chiuderla (oppure un altro stabilmento, ma tutti insieme sicuramente sono troppi)

Ma 72% delle 500 ice erano vendute fuori Italia e nel epoca era per molti anni una scelta dei motori piu ampio, 1.4 100CV, 0.9 85/105CV, le Abarth. Con un 500 nuova ice con solo questo motore a 70CV sicuramente non si ripete il successo della vecchia al estero. Altra macchina rachitica solo per il mercato italiano.
