    BMW Motore B58 TÜ1

    The current BMW straight-six gasoline engine B58 receives its first technical revision. The B58 TÜ1 with 3.0 liter capacity was introduced a few days ago at the 2018 Aachen Colloquium for Engine Technology and is offered as usual with different performance levels. The main objective of the revision was to further improve emission performance to meet the requirements of the WLTP cycle and RDE measurements. In addition to the CO2 and particle emissions, the focus was on future legal limits as well. BMW B58 engine One of several important technical innovations is a completely new fuel system that operates at an injection pressure of up to 350 bar. So far, the injection system of the B58 worked with “only” 200 bar maximum pressure. The significantly higher injection pressure necessitates numerous further changes, ranging from the injection valve via the high-pressure lines to the delivery volume of the high-pressure pump. The 350-bar injection makes a significant contribution to reducing the cumulative number of soot particles produced during combustion by more than 50 percent when driving in accordance with the WLTP cycle. In order to realize the 350-bar injection, the chain drive had to be fundamentally revised. From the two-part layout of the previous B58, the B58 TÜ1 is converted to a one-piece chain drive layout. This eliminates the base wheel which together with optimized slide rail design contributes to a considerable 30 percent less friction in the chain drive. The split-cooling approach, which fundamentally changes thermal management, is also completely new. Unlike in the past, there are two separate cooling circuits for the cylinder head and crankcase. At low and medium load, the cylinder wall temperature is not unnecessarily lowered, which brings advantages in the combustion, which has a significant impact both in the WLTP cycle and in the low-load daily routine of most customers. Another advantage of the always high cylinder wall temperatures is that the engine generates less soot particles in the event of a sudden load jump. On the other hand, the tendency to knock does not increase because the split-cooling approach simultaneously ensures a well-cooled combustion chamber roof. The profound changes in chain drive and cooling have also necessitated a redesign of the crankcase. Here, the wall thickness was optimized and the engineers implemented some other lightweight construction measures, for a total of weight savings of just over 2 kilograms. The forged crankshaft was once again optimized, resulting in an additional weight saving of around 2 kilograms. Of course, the BMW B58 TÜ1 outperforms its predecessor in terms of performance. Initially, two power levels are planned, called ML (middle power level) and OL (upper power level). In the ML comes the B58 TÜ1 with 250 kW (340 hp) and 450 to 500 Newton meters of torque, the OL has 275 to 285 kW (374 to 388 hp) and 500 Newton meters of torque. Of course, the new M-engine S58 will adopt some ideas of the B58 TÜ1 development in an adapted form. In the middle performance level, a new cylinder head with integrated manifold is used. This sophisticated solution brings various advantages in terms of thermal management and, among other things, allows a more efficient distribution of heat to relevant points. The exhaust gas turbocharger of the middle power level has been adapted to the new position of the manifold, which in addition to the cost benefits also brings a weight saving of 2 kilograms. The upper power level uses a turbocharger with integrated manifold, which has also been further refined. Overall, it can be said that the BMW B58 TÜ1 clearly outperforms its predecessor in all important engineering aspects. At the same time, the engineers are also promising lower emissions, improved acoustics, further reduced weight and increased power and torque capacity. Neo. This will be followed soon after by the launch of the I.D. Crozz crossover in the U.S. and China. VW will build MEB vehicles in two plants in China. The company plans to build up to three EVs in North America and will decide by year end whether to produce them in Chattanooga. The group plans to build 27 models for four group brands - VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat - as it targets global mass production of toward the end of 2022. Some industry experts believe MEB could be one of the industry's most cost-efficient EV platforms, helped in part by significant volumes sold in China. Self-driving Witter said autonomous technology was another area where VW was in talks with many players whether to pool their joint resources. "It’s no secret that this is very expensive to develop and that there is the one or the other that is far ahead, such as Waymo in the U.S., so we are naturally thinking about how we can narrow the lead. Or if this isn’t feasible, how we can strengthen our own activities," he said. "There's no final decision.” VW wants to ally with other automakers to create an industry standard for self-driving technology. Such a move would give companies better legal protection following accidents involving autonomous cars, VW believes. With a strategy of loading up its revamped Ram 1500 full-size trucks with new features — ranging from 12-inch touch screens on the dashboard to large battery packs and electric motors to help adjust speed and gears and conserve fuel — the automaker is banking on a sustained surge in demand. So Mike Manley is now reconsidering a decision announced in January to stop building Ram heavy-duty pickups at a plant in Saltillo, Mexico. That plant, and another in Warren, Michigan, between them would produce other Ram models and free up manufacturing capacity to make even more new trucks to eat into sales of Ford Motor Co.'s F series or General Motors' Chevrolet Silverado, and its higher-end GMC Sierra. "We need to get ourselves into second" place, Manley told Reuters exclusively in his first interview since taking over the No. 7 global automaker after Sergio Marchionne died suddenly. "Frankly, I don't care which of the two I take share from." When President Donald Trump was threatening action that would have imposed a 25 percent tariff on Mexican-made pickup trucks earlier this year, Fiat Chrysler said Saltillo would be "repurposed to produce future commercial vehicles." In 2017, Marchionne had raised the possibility his company could move heavy-duty pickup production out of Saltillo, saying U.S. tax and trade policy would influence the decision. "With a combination of Warren and Mexico building what we call the classic truck, we have enough production to increase output next year if it's required," Manley said. "In my opinion it will be required. We are gaining share. Obviously I am looking for that to continue, but it's an incredibly competitive segment," he added. The Ram and Jeep brands underpin the automaker's North American business — which accounted for nearly 85 percent of Fiat Chrysler's second-quarter pretax profit — and offset the struggles of its legacy Fiat business in Europe and operations in China. Ford's F-series pickups have led the segment for four decades. In 2017, Ford had a 35.6 percent share of U.S. retail truck sales, followed closely by GM at 34.2 percent and FCA with 22.3 percent. Pickups are the single biggest contributor to the Detroit Big 3 automakers' profits, so there is plenty at stake as they fight for market share. In the battle for pickup customers, GM launched a new version of its Silverado truck designed with a focus on slashing weight and trimming production costs to compete with market leader Ford. Fiat Chrysler, which reports third-quarter results on Tuesday, took a different tack with the new Ram. The automaker stuffed more features into the vehicle — including an optional 12-inch touch screen and partial electrification that saves fuel and helps with acceleration and cruise control — on a bet that customers would pay more in return. So far, the gamble appears to be paying off. The new Ram 1500's average sale price for the year to date through late October hit $46,856 — higher than the $42,389 average for the Ford F-150, according to industry data. Hayden Elder, owner of Elder Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram in Athens, Texas, said three times in under a month he has had families trade in nearly new large SUVs made by FCA's rivals for a new Ram 1500. "This new Ram is the biggest leap I've ever seen from one version to another," Elder said. About 70 percent of the 800 vehicles he sells annually are trucks. Phil Jansen, Fiat Chrysler's head of product development, said when his team began redesigning the Ram 1500, they decided a lighter, all-aluminum body — which Ford uses for its trucks — was too expensive. GM executives reached the same conclusion. But Fiat Chrysler took a chance that GM did not, and added a large battery pack and electric motor that assist with acceleration and shifting, plus deliver a smooth stop-start function that idles the engine when stopped in traffic, boosting fuel economy. The decision to offer a larger dashboard screen than its rivals have came late in the design process. Initially, the big screen was offered in the top three of the truck's six versions. Fiat Chrysler has since decided to offer it on an additional version. Demand is so high, the company has pushed the screen's supplier for as many screens as it can provide, according to a source familiar with production plans. "We haven't found the ceiling yet" for what U.S. customers are willing to pay for additional features, said Jim Morrison, head of the Ram brand in North America. Fiat Chrysler had problems earlier this year accelerating production of the new Ram truck on a highly automated production line installed at a Detroit-area plant that previously made slow-selling sedans. Among the problems: Dropped bolts and other debris would shut down automated vehicles that carried truck frames through part of the assembly process. The solution was to put debris-sweeping skirts on the carriers, FCA executives said on a recent tour of the plant. Now, the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant is cranking out around 65 trucks an hour, 20 hours a day, six days a week — a pace of about 400,000 vehicles per year. "It is capable, if we wanted to, to push it up more from there," Manley told Reuters. "Clearly, having the capacity to fulfill our ambitions is important." C'e un forte movimento via del Golf verso Troc, anche della Tiguan la Troc tira clienti, ma alla fine l'allargamento dei modelli nell segmento C di VW e una mossa vincente: il trio Golf/Troc/Tiguan ha fatto 2018 in Italia dopo 9 mesi gia le stesse vendite come il duo Golf/Tiguan 2017 dopo 12 mesi. Anche se Golf perde cliente alla Troc, alla fine per la azienda e una situazione win-win.

Gia T-Cross potrebbe contato come 4 Suv, la versione EU, la versione brasiliana con passo piu lungo, e i due versioni cinesi di FAW e SAIC che sono anche differente un po' e solo una di queste due sara permesso di portare il nome T-Cross, per l'altra no. Se contano in questo modo, poi 30 non sono tanto assurdo.
