  1. Nissan's technology could pay in Renault-FCA deal: sources https://ca.reuters.com/article/topNews/idCAKCN1T01RJ-OCATP
  2. Communication of Renault’s Board of Directors June 04, 2019 Boulogne-Billancourt, June 4th, 2019 – Renault's Board of Directors met today to review in detail the elements of the proposal received from FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) on May 27 for a potential 50/50 merger between Renault S.A. and FCA. The Board of Directors has decided to continue to study with interest the opportunity of such a combination and to extend the discussions on this subject. The Board will meet again on Wednesday, June 5 at the end of the day. https://media.group.renault.com/global/en-gb/groupe-renault/media/pressreleases/21227307/communique-du-conseil-dadministration8

  4. Elkann family is of French Jewish origin to be precise. So yes, he's French.

  6. Renault's Senard, the 'Anti-Ghosn,' is a stabilizing force New chairman has little auto experience https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/renaults-senard-anti-ghosn-stabilizing-force?fbclid=IwAR3d65yELGCZaPyIPPSJZQnD19u-AbWkS2tIKVSXLvHYScX7ur3Hax86rCE
  7. And? Actually I don't what can they offer to FCA, both Renault and Nissan. Volume is exception. I can assure you that FCA has more advanced ADAS than anything which is currently on market. It uses Lidar.
  8. France can have Board member. Why not? But IMO it must come from Renault's quota.
  9. I believe that Italian Government is willing to pay for a 7.5% stake in a new company. But from whom will they aquire it?
  10. What I've said few days ago. Mike Manley will be new COO. Manley sold $3.5 million in FCA shares a day after Renault offer https://www.autonews.com/executives/manley-sold-35-million-fca-shares-day-after-renault-offer
  12. It's important to note that QR web team is different and independent from ones who work for magazine. In my opinion just a click bait. Choice for Tonale's's clear that's it's Small Wide or a heavy evolution of it.
  13. Koleos will die? Interesting. I see Koleos as a ill executed car for Europe in comparison to Peugeot 5008 or Škoda Kodiaq. Maybe FCA can help them with it? Apparently FCA is developing Small Wide based 3 row models for Jeep and Fiat in South America. Actually I can see Small Wide platform live after merger at least for SUV models.
  14. Total savings are estimated at 5 billion euros per year. 40% of the savings which is 2 billion euros per year will come from "supplier squeeze".
  15. It's not and they were always calculated separately from FCA. BTW, they are still bellow 10k per year so a different rules are applied to them. Even if the jump over 10k they will be in a medium size carmakers rule which is currently applied to Maserati. Ah, Maserati is not counted with FCA.
  16. Cheaper purchasing is the big win. There's nothing special about the air-conditioning compressors, catalytic converter, steering columns or seat-rails in an Alfa Romeo versus a Renault. Now those costs get to bet spread over at least 8 million vehicles a year (instead of 4), and possibly 15 million. About 60-80% of what's in a car has no effect on the customer's enjoyment of the product - it's there because it needs to be there to support the differentiating features. Pooling arrangements let car makers produce that 60-80% much cheaper than they could otherwise, which leaves them more money to spend on the things that differentiate their products. Anything in the USA would require co-operation from Nissan, which is a different question: "FCA-Renault" and Nissan would remain independent companies after this merge, and would still be competitors (just as Renault tries to sell its Kadjar to people who own Nissan Qashqais, and vice versa)
  17. So it's a done deal...
  18. LOL You really think that they haven't already discussed all with Renault's Chairman and that his name just randomly popped as a new CEO?
  19. They would need to pay a large sum of money to FCA-Renault for 43.4% share in Nissan. I see it as a win-win situation for FCA-Renault.
  20. Synergies are in the first place from using the same supplier base. That's not something which is exclusively platform related. Even FCA which does not use small number of platforms has succeeded in cutting suppliers cost. Some things can be shared even on cars with different platforms.
  21. Mike Manley will be a new COO.
  22. Renault Poised to Give Nod to Fiat Merger as Soon as Next Week https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-05-28/renault-poised-to-give-nod-to-fiat-merger-as-soon-as-next-week
  23. I can not read it... So paste it here.
  24. No double votes for a new company but they may (re)gain them. Nissan will also have a right to vote. In any case I believe that Exor will buy more shares with ones owned by French Government as the most obvious choice. Who knows, maybe Nissan is also willing to sell its part.
  25. Ah.... Ghosn was overrated in my opinion. HE just gained sales volume at any cost. Now Japanese wants margins but it's a long term project. Basically they may be in deep shit. Japanese electrification? Are you serious? Didn't know they are such experts for P2 MHEVs and PHEVs. Thank you for information.
