  1. V6 90° is certainly a very interesting engine. People are forgetting that engine block is made by Low Pressure Die Cast by the same company which makes some if not all BMW B48 engine blocks. Or if someone wants comparison. Alfa Romeo 1750 and 2.2 diesel engine blocks are also Low Pressure Die Cast but made by Teksid. For Inline 6 or GME T6. Development has started a long time ago, at least since 2015. Some versions if not all will have electric compressor. And I can not disclose more. Certainly there is no way for making of 6 cylinder engine from 4 cylinder. But it's possible the other way round. You are kidding. Right? BTW. There are two different GME T4 engines. One is GME T4 M which is used by one Italian brand since 2016.
  2. Can you be more specific? Anything about new models? Speaking about Gorlier. Manley wanted him as FCA's COO for EMEA region because they worked together at Auburn Hills. And it seems that both Manley and Gorlier are fully behind a plan for improving European operations. And lets not forget that except VAG and PSA all are struggling in Europe.

  4. As I said. In Europe C segment SUV is a family car. They must benchmark it against direct competitors and rear leg room and luggage capacity must not be worse in comparison to them. Stelvio and Giulia are not compromised in this aspect in comparison to their direct competitors. FWD is a tradition for a compact Alfa Romeo models. And we know that good handling can be offered with a FWD platform. I think that's out of the question.
  5. My benchmark was a BMW X1 not a Jag E-Pace. Handling and cornering can be improved by many different ways. Less weight, higher platform rigidity, suspension type and materials, electrical power assist programming for improved feeling. But as I said in any case habitability must not be compromised.
  6. It's not that simple. First id depends on number of cars you want to produce. Less cars means less tooling cost. But IMO an example from Seat/VAG is not a good one. They are sharing much more than just a platform. Doors, roof... All is shared between 2 models. Difference is much greater than that. More like 200+ euros and 15-20 kilos less. Suspension attachment points are also important. On some platforms it's not easy task to fit a double wishbone suspension.
  7. Mercedes has by far the best image and by far the largest portion of a private customers. Result is obvious. But there is a reason why will they introduce a GLB. In Europe compact SUV segment is a family car. Will a Giorgio based Alfa compact be sufficient for a family car? Cargo space, rear bench space... I'm not sure about that.
  8. In other words a European sized C segment premium SUV from Alfa can only have 200-350 sales per month in US. So it must be attractive for European and Chinese buyers. Hatchback like design is a big no-no. It must be boxy like a BMW X1. It's desirable to be a FWD. Giorgio is most likely a wrong call. For China it must offer a long wheelbase version. What will they do wrong with a future C SUV?
  9. Jeep Cherokee is considered as a compact SUV by Americans. Lets not forget that average transaction for a new car in America is north of $35k. AFAIK that excludes incentives. For that price buyer can go for a Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2 V6 with some additional options.
  10. Giulia has one of the quickest development times in the history of the car industry. All new platform, all new engines. Actually they have broken few unwritten rules during development. It's not a good solution to have an all new platform with an all new engines. Of course we are talking about Project 952. All before that is not the Giulia as it is today. Same with Alfieri. Concept was based on Ferrari California. That will not be the case with future Alfieri. I don't know when they've started development but I doubt it has been before 2016.
  11. Maybe in Europe but in US 8er could keep similar price as 6er. Keep in mind that current 6er GC has identical starting price in US as a 7er. As I said offer must be tailored to a specific market. 730i is not offered in the US. In the US there is only a LWB version of a 7er. But we are not taking about QP market positioning. Topic is a Ghibli and future D segment 'UV from Maserati.
  12. It depends on whom is Maserati's competitor. In case of Ghibli it is a 6er(8er in the near future), CLS and A7. So engine offering must be in line with competitors. CLS in US starts with a 3 liter 365 HP Inline 6 P2 mild hybrid engine. BMW 6 GranCoupe starts with a 3 liter Inline 6 which has 335 HP. Audi A7 starts with a 3 liter V6 P0 mild hybrid which has 340 HP. Or you think that Ghibli's direct competitors are 5er, E Class and Audi A6? In my opinion 2 liter engine for a Ghibli makes sense only for Chinese market. For Europe and US it can be only as a PHEV. Or are they willing to shot themselves in the leg? P.S. IMO 2 liter engines make sense for an Alfa Romeo brand if they are ever going to make E segment sedan or a fastback.

  14. Some details are identical as on new BMW X4.
  15. I can see this car as a Chrysler in US. Not as a Dodge. RWD platform are better fit for Dodge. Dodge as a muscle car brand. But what do I know.
  16. Can you share more information about 1.5 GSE?
  17. Are you serious? Ram is a sibling with Fiat Professional.
  18. Brazilian web site Autos Segredos is saying that there will be both 5 and 7 seat versions. 7 seat version was in the new FCA 5 year plan. But there is also a Jeep brand twin.
  19. It's somewhere in between compact and mid-size SUV. Compare it with Compass. It should be on the same platform but this one has around 6 cm longer wheelbase.
  20. It's related to Chinese regulations. They must have BEV and PHEV sales. Simple as that.
  21. Wrong dimensions and weight of an elephant. Just compare it to a new VW T-Cross. I think that VW is spot on in terms of dimensions. For goodness sake 500L is much more heavier than average B segment CUV and has an aerodynamic of a box due to its height.
