  1. @pennellotref Obviously they wanted to achieve huge peak torque. It's 850 Nm. For that they choose not to limit torque as some other car makers are doing. For example 4.0 V8 in a S 63. Peak torque of 900 Nm at 2750 rpm. Interesting that bore (86 mm) and bore spacing (96 mm) of this engine are identical as on 2.0 Turbo ECOTEC. I really don't know why they opted for 4.2 liters. It's very strange decision.

  5. Yes, 500, 500X, 500L and 124 Spider are all part of emotional range. Fiat should keep 500. 5 door 500 should be 600. But then they'll run with issued with 500L and 500X naming. IMO, they screwed naming convention from the start. On some markets they have big difficulty to prove they have 3 unrelated products in 500 family. Fiat must go forward with emotional range. But models must be more diverse and not just feminine 500 design. That could be good for 500 and 600... But for anything bigger not.

  9. There is no American in the run. Four most likely successors are two Brits, one German and one Italian. Bigland is Canadian and he most likely went out of any race. The only American is Tim Kuniskis, new CEO of Alfa Romeo and Maserati. But IMO he is the most likely next COO of FCA for NAFTA region. That's also a seat currently taken by Marchionne.

He is one of those who made money during privatization of public companies. And he is a Bosnian Croat. Mate said that his goal is to be supplier. He does not have aspiration of making cars. His cars, actually a concepts, are only there to showcase technology.
  12. As I said the problem for Fiat is always the same. Most European models has buyers only in Italy. And most Italians will only buy a Fiat with base engine. So tell me. Where is a business case behind new Fiat models?

  16. I believe that P2 mild hybrid with eBooster can do a miracle. Just look at what Mercedes did with their new mild hybrid compared to their outgoing full hybrid. FCA US is using primitive and inexpensive P0 mild hybrid.
