It has so many unnecessary lines! It's heavy with the details that this car does not need. Instead of lightness it exposes heaviness. It looks like a 57 years old pornostar.

It looks to me that VW sold the right to use Audi name to the Chinese manufacturer. Something similar to the retail market, when Benetton, Nautica, Reebok, Ralph Lauren, Polo, Eddie Bauer, etc. give the right to use their brand to some chinese manufacturers and sell the product in retail stores as Walmart or Costco.

This is the second example (actually it is the first, that was presented in Monza) However the first car (which was actually built the second) has a provision for the 4WD.

Probably it was made in this way because it's cute, it makes you smile and curious and you feel that the car is friendly. All the components that any modern vehicle is missing. They explored a new niche, that was non existent back then. The car was made intentionally as a city commuter. They tried to make a cheap electric car for everyday. The concept that can be easily achieved with the modern technology, but nobody want's it

Just for comparison, 155, which is generally considered a flop, during the first month on the market (February 1992) collected 6000 orders in Italy only. Production was running at 400 cars/day. During the second month (March) 155 collected 7000 orders on the domestic market. In April Alfa delivered 10000 cars but already had a backlog of 11000 cars! At the end of May 1992 Alfa 155 got 15000 registers in Italy Does Junior produced with a pace of 400-450 cars per day? If not, I would question the number of orders P.S. Alfa 33 at that time was produced at the pace 420 cars per day

Talking about 33 3 volume we should understand how it supposed to be positioned and when. By the last independent 10 years model plan (June 1985) AR marketing team thought about 33 3v as Giulietta replacement. They wanted to add a model between 33 and 75. 33 3v was planned for the first quarter of 1988 however in the beginning of 1992 33 3v and 75 supposed to be replaced by the new 434 model

Yes, but before Alfa thought about this car, Alfasud Tempo Libero with Oto Melara transmission. Now the car is in the Lopresto collection

The project started in 1980 during the preparation of the 10 years Master Plan. Alfa Romeo reviewed Giugiaro's market review from the 70's where he pointed that people are no longer interested in sports cars but in the cars that allow to explore. Basically future SUV's. Alfa Romeo reviewed Talbot Rancho, Citroen Mehari, Land Rover 90/110, Range Rover, VW Iltis, Mercedes-Steyer G 240-280. This is what AR presented to IRI, in 1980. It was planned for production in 1986

The progress in turbocharging allowed to have 2-3 engines across the model range. Basically 3, 4 and 6 cylinders with the displacement from 1 to 3.5 liters can cover all model line. 3 engines allow to have a range from 85 to 700 hp. With naturally aspirated engines it would require 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and probably 16/18 cylinders engines with displacement from 1 to 8.2-9 liters Alfa did the same experiment with 33.3 V8. but Triflux was much more efficient.
