The only new key points: The concept was created in just 6 months The design of the SUV will have some common elements with the Cuorerosso, but not a lot. The Giulietta will be much closer to the Cuorerosso design. IF a D-seg model gets the green light, it will have to be a halo model, a true flagship. It cant be based on STLA One. Its Quadrifoglio version must have this full-hybrid V6. And it will probably not arrive before 2030

Mate, have a look at the entire market, and not just the Alfa Romeo range, which you call "trash". You say that Junior is trash: can you find a better premium B-seg car at the price of 28,000€ ? (I'm using the greek pricetags, because those are the ones I know) The 1 Series has the same price and it is 8 years old. You say that Tonale is trash: can you find a better premium C-SUV at the price of 36,000€ ? Even the Terramar (if you can consider Cupra a premium brand) is 2K € more expensive. The Junior & Tonale are nowhere near close the Giulia driving and quality standards, of course. But for their segment (and their price) are honestly very good cars. The Giulia costs 59,000€ right now in Greece. 9 years ago, my father bought a Giulia for 45,000€ (it wasnt the base version, it was a 2.0 Super). And this is not Alfa Romeo going crazy: the all-new 3 Series starts from 55,000€ with a ridiculous 156cv engine (0-100 in 9.4s!!), the C-Class from 60k€, the A5 is even more expensive. And this is something that Alfa Romeo has to take into account if they launch a new Giulia: that it will lose a lot of customers that the previous generation had, because this segment has gotten ridiculously more expensive, while people's salaries have not grown the same. On top of that, current trends have shifted to other segments: crossovers, UVs etc PS Sorry for the huge OT

BMW was saved by the 700. Porsche was saved by the Cayenne and the Boxster. We have to be sensible. The C-Hatch could be a good car (even with the 1.2 engine) and it could give to Alfa Romeo the right to dream. Right now, it's not the moment. Stellantis has f***ed up in a gigantic scale, both here and in the US, and Stellantis has (rightfully in my opinion) taken the difficult decision to give only 30% of its budget to 7 brands (Opel, Citroen, DS, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Dodge, Chrysler). For Alfa Romeo to create a car based on a platform that cannot support full-EV powertrains (or at least full-EV powertrains with specs that can fight with the i3 etc) right now, in this Europe, and with this Stellantis is just to big a risk. And you cant create a platform from scratch, like BMW did with Neue Klasse, because you dont have so many models, so the costs cant be allocated. First you create volume with sensible cars, then you can dream. Porsche did it, BMW did it. Not the opposite. Creating sportscars that nobody wanted (4C) or volume cars based on extremely expensive platforms with no prediction for electrification (Giorgio) just created more problems

I agree. For me the situation is clear: if Stellantis' (and Alfa Romeo's) economical situation improves, they'll re-enter the D-seg with a car based on Giorgio. They dont wanna do half-baked stuff, they dont wanna use a chinese platform, because this wont be a luxurious limo, this has to be a sports-sedan or sports-UV. So, the door is not closed: if papa-Filosa gives the ok (aka gives a bit more budget), it'll happen. So for the moment it's on the freezer. But of course, many factors play a role to this. The european regulations, the Europe-US relations, the global economical situation... We need a miracle. But miracles do happen sometimes.

Exactly. Another factor that will play a role of course is whether Filosa's strategy (regarding Stellantis in general and Alfa in particular) will start paying off in the next 18-24 months. Secondo me, Ficili is not pouring cold water, he is just stating the obvious. Given that the Tonalona is coming in 12 months, and the Giulietta will follow, we cant expect a new Giulia in the next 36 months, minimum. Also, the fact that the Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio will be axed in late 2027, means that Alfa has to take a hiatus from the US.

The idea exists. First of all, it is known for quite some time (see the thread "Alfa Romeo Giulia III 2028"). Second, Alfa Romeo wouldnt give so many technical details of a concept for no reason. But of course, an idea does not equal a reality - history has shown us that an idea might become a reality (see VW Nardo), but it also might not (see DS SM Tribute).

The Giorgio platform definitely has a future, at least for Maserati: the big restylings of the Grecale and GT/GC are coming, along with the full-hybrid Nettuno, and the full-hybrid 2.0-liter engine

They could recycle parts of previous cancelled projects, certainly (there are so many of them 😂). Given that the Maserati Quattroporte which was cancelled by Tavares (M183/M9S) was planned to be based on the Granturismo platform (Giorgio Sport), and be smaller than the last Quattroporte, I wonder if part of that project could be recycled to an Alfa Romeo project.
