Jeep Shows Off Mojave and High Altitude Gladiators at Chicago The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Mojave is getting its official unveiling at this year’s Chicago Auto Show. The Mojave is a desert-focused (at least in themes) Gladiator pickup with a handful of enhancements that make it better suited for ripping through the dunes. If you’re more focused on finer things in life but still want to roll around in a Gladiator, Jeep has something for you, too. The more-comfortable High Altitude variant of its latest Gladiator delivers extra creature comforts. Jumping into the Gladiator Mojave, you’ll find the biggest difference over the similarly impressive Rubicon is the suspension. The Mojave features beefy Fox shocks with remote reservoirs and special hydraulic jounce controls. The suspension is designed to handle the rigors of the desert and help keep you from bottoming out after hitting some hills. The Gladiator Mojave also sports the Command-Trac four-wheel-drive system, which translates to a 2.72 low-gear ratio in the two-speed transfer case. You’ll find the same system in other Jeeps, but it’s not as earthmovingly aggressive as the 4:1 low gear ratio found in the Rock-Trac system. The Mojave does come factory-fitted with a set of 33-inch Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires to help further manage the sand. While the Mojave is ready to storm the desert, you’ll still have the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 under the hood. There is no increase in power, which means you’ve got 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque heading to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. That’s not as exciting as, say, a Ford Raptor or the long-rumored Ram Rebel TRX, but it’s more than enough to let you have some fun in the desert. There is a hood scoop to give you the illusion of more power, but it’s still the Pentastar. The Mojave also sports a special interior with orange accent stitching. Seat coverings are available in cloth or leather. They’re also available in black or steel grey, but we’d suggest the steel grey if you plan on running one of these out in the desert at high noon. Oh yeah, let’s not forget Jeep's new “desert rated” badges. While most of the Jeep lineup carries the “Trail Rated” badges, Jeep switched things up with the Mojave to give it a different badge for its different skillset. The High Altitude, on the other hand, is more rated for comfort and style. Available on both Gladiator pickups and regular Jeep Wranglers, the High Altitude package sports important features like leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a leather-wrapped dash. They also sport color-matched fender flares, hardtop, mirrors and bumpers. The High Altitude models will also sport a set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza all-season rubber. Basically, these are the Jeep models you’re looking to wheel when your only obstacle is finding a nice place for dinner. The Jeep High Altitude models feature the same powertrain as the Mojave models, which means a V6 with the same 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both of these models will be available in the second quarter of 2020, which translates to sometime between April first and June 30th for those who don’t speak business. There’s no word on price, but we expect the Mojave to be priced similar to the Rubicon, and none of them will be cheap. https://www.autoweek.com/news/auto-shows/a30779311/jeep-shows-off-mojave-and-high-altitude-gladiators-at-chicago/- 5 risposte
